Our client is a USD $2.2bn FUM Food and Agriculture specialist Private Capital fund. The wider private equity division of this business has strategies in resources and Agriculture/Food. The Food and Agricultural division is rounding out fund 2 (circa $450bn) likely by end of 2017 which has been 50% spent in Australia across 5 locally based investments, with some minor ‘add on’ investments left to close out the fund. The returns of all funds to date have been above target and there has been strong interest from their US/European based institutional investors to invest in fund number 3 which will be raised early 2018. Based on success of the local investments the 3rd fund will be purely focused Australia and New Zealand. Currently the local team is 3 (MD, Director, Associate) and an Associate is required to assist the growth of the local business.
Reporting to the local Managing Director and Investment Director your role will see the full fund cycle, being involved in completing the final ‘add on’ transactions (which largely involve purchasing up/downstream assets to achieve greater economies of scale) for fund 2 and overseeing portfolio management duties then be involved in preparing for the 3rd fund and move into an investing role from thereafter. The investment side will involve, building financial models and information memorandums for the investment committee, involved in due diligence, onsite visits.
The successful candidate will likely have 2-4 years experience in corporate finance with a strong ability to understand and challenge key business assumptions. This may suit someone with a strong passion for agriculture and food production perhaps with family roots in this area.
You must have full working rights for Australia to be considered for this role.
