As our client (a leading global institutional investor with a strong presence in the Infrastructure Debt market) continues to grow its portfolio of Debt mandate clients and AUM, the volume of client interactions, requests and portfolio analytical requirements is increasing in line with this. A need has arisen for a product specialist to act as the Infrastructure Debt team’s interface with existing and prospective clients – someone who is able to knowledgeably discuss transactions and portfolio returns.

The role requires proven analytical and credit skills and an ability to develop investor relations expertise, with the view to taking on full Portfolio Manager responsibilities in 12-18 months.

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Head of Asset Management and sitting within the Infrastructure Debt team, your responsibilities will be broad and varied, including:

Portfolio Management

Act as a contact point for existing clients to prepare and coordinate responses to requests:-

  • Provide responses to queries on assets, performance and valuation
  • Build relationships with clients to ensure satisfactory servicing of their needs
  • Review all investor reporting to ensure a high degree of accuracy is maintained
  • Project manage the Debt team’s involvement in Investment Management Agreement (“IMA”) amendments
  • Design and update investor’s investment strategies

Prospective Client Project Management

  • Act as the Debt Team’s interface with wider business (Business Development, Legal, Finance, Compliance) for prospective new clients
  • Oversee preparation of debt content for marketing materials such as slide decks and deal case studies
  • Coordinate Debt Team’s input into RFPs, DDQs and associated information for prospective clients
  • Attend meetings with prospective clients
  • Project manage selective new IMA negotiations
  • Coordinate preparation of the Quarterly Market Update and White Paper marketing documents

Portfolio Analytics and Hedging

  • Oversee benchmark methodologies, calculation and analysis
  • Maintain and stress test portfolio models
  • Perform IMA investment constraint and headroom analysis
  • Maintain Hedging Policy and investor hedging strategies

Credit and infrastructure market knowledge

  • Remain informed of key developments, risk trends and opportunities facing the infrastructure sector and business and ensure dissemination of information to the wider team
  • Be able to discuss existing and pipeline deals knowledgably with clients
  • Join team pipeline discussions to share views on new transactions and suitability for portfolios

Debt Team Support

  • Support the wider Infrastructure Debt team through maintaining relationships with financial intermediaries, advisors and financial sponsors to help identify origination leads
  • Ad hoc asset management support on challenging credits
  • Occasional support of deal teams at times of high deployment workload

Other

  • Volunteer for activities and projects as appropriate
  • Attend regular team meetings, internal off sites and presentations

 

THE CANDIDATE

This is a unique role in the sense that you will have strong technical Infrastructure Debt experience behind you, but that you will be forging a career ahead of you which is essentially about developing and maintaining relationships with investors.  You will use your technical knowledge, and your insight gained from sitting with and assisting the investment team, to help explain the offering to investors and, when they are on board, build a long term relationship in which you act as their eyes and ears as to the performance of their investment.

A unique role requires a unique candidate, and we must insist on the following criteria being met before your application is considered:

  • A minimum of six years experience working in funds management, investment banking, project finance, client coverage and/or relevant industry experience
  • Investment experience and knowledge of the infrastructure sector and global credit markets
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical skills
  • Strong credit / asset management / portfolio management experience
  • High degree of commercial awareness and client facing skills
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to lead client discussions
  • Strategic thinking and acting
  • Team player with integrity
