Research Assistant Sovereign and International Public Finance - Frankfurt - (S&P Global Ratings)

The Role: S&P Global Ratings are seeking an individual to join its Sovereign and International Public Finance team in Frankfurt as a Research Assistant. This is a key role supporting our analysts and will give the successful candidate the opportunity to embrace a fast learning analytical job in an international working environment. The job entails performing and overseeing ad hoc and on-going database and research projects and external data requests. You will assist analysts in updating reports and preparing for meetings or internal committees and have the opportunity to collaborate with other professionals in our various international offices You will gain an understanding of S&P Global rating methodology, policies and procedures as well as knowledge of qualitative aspects of Sovereign and International Public Finance analysis. The successful candidate will be supported with on the job and formal training. This is an exciting role for someone willing to contribute to the development of the company. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with strong analytical capabilities and the ability to work as part of an international team. This is a great opportunity for a university graduate, preferably in economics. Some level of work experience gained in economic research, a bank, or a government authority would be beneficial.

The Team: S&P Global's Sovereign and Public Finance team covers Sovereign, Local and Regional Government and other Public Sector ratings across Europe. Besides extensive sector coverage, the team is very active in outreach events. Primary responsibilities will be to support team efforts on new rating mandates and conduct thorough surveillance of the existing portfolio.

Your Skills:

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Good knowledge of computer software, in particular excel.
  • Economic and/or financial analysis.
  • German and English languages required. Additional language skills will be an advantage.
