The Opportunity

Soben, part of Accenture, is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join our growing team in Luxembourg .

This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of major capital projects across infrastructure, data centres, energy, industrial, and commercial sectors. You will play a critical role in the preparation, development, and management of project estimates, helping clients make informed investment decisions throughout the project lifecycle.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing detailed cost estimates, analysing project documentation, evaluating risks and opportunities, and providing strategic cost advice to clients and project teams. You will collaborate with engineering, project management, procurement, and client stakeholders to deliver accurate, data-driven estimates that support successful project delivery.

As a senior member of the team, you will also provide mentorship and technical leadership to junior estimators while contributing to the continued growth of our estimating capability across Luxembourg and the wider European market.

Key Responsibilities
Cost Planning & Estimating
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates at various stages of project development, aligned with the level of design information available.
  • Analyse project documentation, drawings, specifications, and plans to identify factors influencing project cost.
  • Develop and review material take-offs from drawings and technical documents.
  • Review and finalise estimate pricing based on current market conditions, project-specific requirements, and risk assessments.
  • Support the preparation of conceptual, budgetary, and detailed estimates across multiple project sectors.
Risk & Cost Analysis
  • Continuously evaluate estimates to identify risks, assumptions, opportunities, and cost drivers.
  • Review benchmark and historical cost data to identify significant variances and trends.
  • Assess estimate accuracy and recommend strategies to optimise project costs and improve value outcomes.
  • Review contract documentation to understand project scope and cost implications associated with scope changes.
Stakeholder Management
  • Collaborate closely with clients to gain a clear understanding of project scope, objectives, and delivery requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineering, procurement, and project management teams throughout the estimate development process.
  • Present estimate findings, cost reports, and recommendations to senior management, clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
  • Support informed decision-making through clear and concise reporting.
Leadership & Development
  • Provide mentoring, coaching, and technical guidance to junior and intermediate estimators.
  • Promote best practice estimating methodologies and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support the development and implementation of standardised estimating processes and tools.
Reporting & Governance
  • Support the reporting cycle by accurately documenting estimate changes and the rationale behind them.
  • Maintain estimate databases, benchmarking information, and cost intelligence resources.
  • Ensure estimating outputs meet quality standards, governance requirements, and client expectations.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years' experience in estimating and cost management roles.
  • Strong experience delivering estimates for large-scale infrastructure, construction, energy, industrial, commercial, or mission-critical projects.
  • Proven ability to prepare accurate estimates throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Strong understanding of cost planning, cost analysis, benchmarking, and estimating methodologies.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working directly with clients and senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead estimating workstreams and support multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of market influences on project costs.
Preferred
  • Professional accreditation such as MRICS, AACE, ACostE, or equivalent.
  • Experience with estimating software and cost databases such as CostX, Candy, Causeway, or similar platforms.
  • Knowledge of BIM-enabled estimating and digital cost management tools.
  • Experience within data centre, infrastructure, energy, industrial, or major capital project environments.
  • Knowledge of Luxembourg and wider European construction markets.
  • Fluency in English, with French and/or German language skills considered advantageous.
