Our client is a successful international (they have over 12 offices globally) financial services PLC. Their finance team in the City/London are now recruiting for a Senior Accountant at VP level. There are excellent progression and development opportunities available with this position, not only to develop into a #2 role in the finance team but also for it to expand to a global revenue role in 6-12 months. The role is a broad, well-rounded finance role covering the production of management and financial accounts, revenue analysis/reporting, internal controls work, providing analysis to stakeholders and various other finance tasks.
Profile criteria:
- Fully-qualified candidate (up to 2-3 years post-qualified)
- Must bring a solid foundation of accounting experience covering management and financial accounting

- Excellent communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships with a variety of stakeholders
- Ideally looking for accounting experience from the financial services/banking/capital markets sector (particularly from a PLC environment)
- Oracle systems experience is ideal but is not essential
- Confident user of Excel
Job Responsibilities:
Revenue Accounting:
- Ensure accurate recognising of revenues including the preparation and review of deferred and accrued revenue postings
- Ensure all client contracts are correctly recorded and accounted for under US GAAP and local accounting standards
- Work with the business and operations teams to guarantee all billing/revenue changes have been reflected correctly
- Perform variance analysis monthly, quarterly and annually and be able to communicate variances to non accountants
- Support the business with ad hoc requests regarding client fees
Management Accounting:
- Producing financial management information in a timely manner as required by senior management.
- Preparation of international business cost budget and reforecasts
- Maintenance of monthly revenue/cost centre postings
- Communicate and knowledge share key financial information with the Financial Controller, Finance Director and senior stakeholders
Financial Accounting:
- Preparation and review of balance sheet reconciliations and substantiation
- Working with the financial accounting team on production of annual and quarterly financial statements prepared in accordance with FRS 101 and local reporting standards
- Management of internal audits and year end external audits
- Understand and implement strong financial controls in line with SOX 101
Qualifications
- Qualified accountant with strong post qualified experience (ACA, ACCA, CIMA)
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; extremely comfortable building Excel reports/ models. Knowledge of macros/SQL very favourable
- Experience using Oracle preferred
- Ability to analyse large data sets with understanding and communicating the key message
