Investment Controller, Successful Mid-Cap Buy Out Fund, Munich, Germany

Our client is an independent buyout firm with significant financial resources and a strong track record. The German arm of the firm invests into mid-sized companies across various sectors in the DACH region and Italy and has a strong deal pipeline. The firm is now looking to hire an Investment Controller to support their team. In this position, you will be involved in all fund-internal financial matters and support the investment team during the deal acquisition process. The position is based in Munich, Germany.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Support acquisitions by establishing investment structures in close cooperation with external tax and legal advisors as well as administrators
  • Set-up of companies and their structures and ensuring internal approval of the structures
  • You will interact with external advisors as well as the teams based in London, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Italy and Germany throughout the deal process
  • Maintain reporting of asset classes and update internal systems
  • Prepare fund flows and ensure capitalization of the structure ahead of deal closing
  • You will be responsible for the preparation of financial statements and tax returns of SPVs within the acquisition structure and ensure timely filings
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual and ad-hoc reporting and support during the year-end fund audits
  • Review funding documentation and ensure correct interpretation by external advisors and administrators
  • Determine and arrange funding of SPVs and support during cash upstreaming and exits
  • Oversee and organize regular payment runs
  • Maintain capitalization tables for each deal and support during quarterly reporting with regard to the investment costs, ownership and waterfall
  • You will support the Munich Finance Director with tasks regarding compliance, reporting or operational improvement as required
YOUR PROFILE
  • University degree in Business Administration, Finance or related disciplines
  • Initial relevant professional experience gained in a leading accounting firm in audit or tax; ideally paired with an affinity for tax and accounting related questions
  • Previous exposure to Private Equity deals is helpful, but not a requirement
  • Excellent MS Office skills, in particular Excel; willingness to get acquainted with new tools is required
  • Strong analytical skills with an affinity for numbers
  • A pro-active, collaborative self-starter with an eye for detail
  • Willing to travel to the London office on an occasional basis
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Fluency in German and English is required; Italian is a plus
