Large Buy Side Client is looking for a Sales Manager to accelerate growth and drive new business. The Sales Manager must demonstrate a passion for sustainable investing. Strong communication and client management skills are key to build a robust sales pipeline, acquire and commercialize client investment mandates with a focus on European institutional clients.


New strategy:

Moving from quantitative trading to the sustainable investment approach has now led to ramping up the team to meet the new strategy.


Currently in a growing phase, bringing in the first products to life; you will join this dynamic phase.


Generally, there are two pillars;

Pillar 1:

  • Closely working together with the Reinsurance division.

Doing tailored work for savings and retirements and deliver the components for the reinsurance team.

Pillar 2:

  • An Asset Management ONLY proposition, here they want to be a boutique of complete sustainable investment solutions in the liquid asset space.

The two products they are launching in the next month:

1. Carbon emissions rights funds; here they buy EU emissions rights, which is good for the environment, since you avoid carbon emission or act to capture emission.


2. The other one is Equity, here they trade stocks which have a positive influence on emissions, this is a stock selection.


Focus is on institutional accounts, since they deal mainly with asset accumulators, i.e. insurances or pension funds, thus already have a good relationships with them.

This creates a cross selling ability for the salespeople to also sell the investment products.

Sales Manager in its role:

The position is more a manager function, less of a relationship manager with a network. They are keen to look for someone who can coordinate the sales activities they are unfolding, using the client managers and sales team they already have.

You need to understand the product offering to act as a multiplier in the sales team, able to explain the main sales arguments, work on the presentations with the sales team on the ground, coordinate and multiplicate.

N.B. able to visit clients and sell the products, but there is no need for a large network.

Principal Duties:

  • Build, lead and implement the business development strategy
  • Manage marketing and sales activities for our suite of sustainable investment solutions
  • Build sales pipeline; document and report all sales activities
  • Lead client meetings, RfIs and RfPs; match client preferences with our investment products
  • Manage sales pipeline, document and report all sales activities
  • Negotiate investment mandates and close opportunities
  • Manage after-sales client relationships, be the “go to” person and trusted partner externally and internally for client Q&A including client review meetings
  • Maintain professional knowledge, keep abreast of general market updates, industry developments and competitor’s activities

Principal Competencies:

  • You have 5+ years of experience in a leading business development role in financial services, preferably investment management
  • You have a proven business development track record for investment management solutions
  • You are a passionate salesperson with strong commercial drive and attitude, negotiation skills, and a strong appetite for closing new client mandates
  • Excellent client presentation and communication skills, especially for face-to-face meetings with multiple stakeholders such as client investment committees, CIOs and investment teams
  • Deep understanding of the asset management industry in general, investment needs of asset owners with sustainable and climate impact investment goals in particular
  • You are friendly, open & can communicate easily with clients, but also hungry and energetic
  • You are fluent in at least English and German – native German is preferred, since you cover the DACH region next to Japan and Australia
