Operations, Services and Technology is a pivotal part of the Group, providing essential operational and technical support to our global businesses and helping improve customer service and efficiency. Operations, Services and Technology combines global expertise and technology to help keep us ahead of the competition.

IT Operations manages the IT infrastructure and supporting services that are critical for HSBC employees and customers, such as cost-efficient hardware, system software, middleware and databases, data centres, voice and data networks, ATMs, desktops and other devices.

The area comprises five functions: Client Services, Enterprise Services and Architecture, Data Centre and Service Management, Relationship Management, Project Management and Risk and Administration. Collectively, these areas define and deliver HSBC's technology strategy to support the Group's goals.

We are currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Chief Information Officer, Global Private Bank, Asia Pacific.

Principal responsibilities

  • Provide support to Asia Pacific Chief Information Officer (CIO) when necessary on matters relating to relevant regulatory and Board relationships at regional level
  • Consulted on execution of Global Private Bank (GPB) strategy at regional level
  • Collaborate with peer Regional Heads, GPB Business, and other senior IT Personnel to implement GPB and IT goals in region within entity, policy, expense, regulatory constraints, in line with Technology strategy, priorities, and budgets
  • Lead and influence the GPB IT Team to meet functional goals in the region, and oversee delivery of the portfolio to time, cost, and quality targets
  • Ensure that all Asia Pacifc demand is captured and effectively prioritised within the GPB global portfolio
  • Ensure transparency over status of GPB global delivery into Asia Pacifc
  • Coordinate all Asia Pacifc input into the annual planning cycle
  • Responsible for governing the GPB IT programme portfolio in region ensuring the status and impacts to time, cost and quality are reported into relevant regions and countries
  • Responsible for delivery of GPB IT Transformation, Agile and DevOps adoption in region to realise savings as per targets in partnership with the GPB Business
  • Ensure deliverables are supportive and in compliance with Regional and GPB target state architecture
  • Accountable to both Regional CIO and GPB CIO for ensuring resilient, high quality services are being delivered within the region
  • Coordinate regional activities required to mitigate service issues
  • Responsible for service performance of end to end services delivered within the Asia Pacifc
  • Consulted on delivery status of overall service / application health for Asia Pacific owned applications, and expert advice provided/facilitated from wider IT community as necessary
  • Consulted on status of issues relating to critical IT incidents for Asia Pacifc CIO owned applications, and expert advice provided/facilitated from wider IT community as necessary
  • Consulted on problem management and root cause analysis related to Region / Country CIO Owned Applications where applicable, and expert advice provided/facilitated from wider GB/GF as necessary
  • Responsible for driving implementation, governing risk responsibly, promoting ethical management of risks, communicating changes in policy and governance effectively, and ensuring in country regulatory processes and procedures are adhered to
  • Responsible to the Regional CIO and GBP CIO and GPB IT COO for IT direct cost and charges to GPB Region Business
  • Manage the regional allocation of the global budget to regions for all programmes
  • Responsible to the Regional GPB business COO and GPB IT COO for managing all IT spend in region (for GPB budget and regional budget)


  • Ideally an advanced degree holder with experience and proven track record to influence /manage functionally and work independently
  • Extensive business experience, including deep understanding of Private Banking as key regional growth areas.
  • Strong and developed leadership skills;
  • Excellent team player with strong interpersonal skills;
  • Highly-developed negotiation skills with the ability to influence across the matrix;
