Description

HKEX is on an exciting journey of transforming our data landscape. Data and Analytics, part of the Innovation and Data Lab, aims to empower the staff and clients of HKEX with the use of data, and to improve the efficiency and profitability of HKEX's business with data-driven decisions. An exciting time lies ahead and we are now inviting an experienced Data Governance Lead to join our team.

The position we offer

You will drive the establishment and implementation of organization-wide data governance initiative, a crucial role in fulfilling our Data Strategy, and be part of a major change programme aimed at delivering cutting-edge analytics capability for HKEX. You will engage and collaborate with senior leaders from different business areas to shape our data governance landscape, and drive the implementation of data management capabilities for HKEX.

Job Responsibilities

• Drive the organization-wide initiative to develop data governance policies and data management practices;

• Run day-to-day data governance and management operations including data acquisition and onboarding, data processing, quality assurance and governance for our Big Data and Analytics platform;

• Drive organisational data quality and ensure the protection of sensitive data through adoption of performance and quality metrics, modifications to organisational behaviour and processes;

• Work with first and second-line stakeholders to provide ongoing assurance and accountability for data quality and compliance with relevant policies;

• Deploy a metadata management framework to cover data lineage, access control, data catalogue, data encryption, anonymisation, etc;

• Identify, collaborate with, and guide Data Stewards and Owners in various business areas to design and continuously refine and optimise our data governance process;

• Develop & maintain inventory of the enterprise information maps, including authoritative systems and owners;

• Engage with Data Engineering Team to design and continuously refine platform offerings and architecture;

• Work closely with the Product Manager and Analytics & Intelligence Team for product and service launches, including release planning, capacity management and operational review.

Job Requirements

We expect the ideal candidate to have 8 or more years of experience in the data governance and management space, although exceptional candidates with less experience will also be considered. You should be experienced in setting up data governance and management processes for an enterprise and have proven track record of delivery, demonstrating an ability to solve complex problems. Experience in leading a team is preferred.

• 8+ years of experience with successful implementation of data governance and management practices in a sizeable organization;

• A degree in a relevant discipline;

• Data driven thinking and excellent communication skills;

• Ability to articulate abstract concepts of data governance and management in general business language and clearly communicate the approach and values to stakeholders including senior management;

• Experience in establishing an enterprise data catalogue;

• Experience in metadata management, reference data management, data quality and data lineage;

• Solid understanding of data privacy and protection regulations (PDPO, GDPR or similar);

Ideally, you should also have

• Solid skills in data governance and management on the Collibra Platform;

• Knowledge in data management with cloud-based infrastructure (AWS, Azure or GCP);

• Experience in Financial Markets (e.g. exchange, brokerage, trading institution) and knowledge of financial products;

• Experience working in cross functional teams, able to communicate effectively with both business and technical teams;

You will be joining a cross functional team in a highly international environment based in Hong Kong, Shenzhen and London.
