To provide actuarial and commercial support to the business on proposition and pricing, reinsurance, actuarial operations and system implementation work within the Hong Kong Commercial team adhering to actuarial best practices. The incumbent will work closely with the wider Product department and with other departments across the business (including Actuarial, Distribution, Marketing, Finance, IT and Strategic Projects Office) to deliver the desired business commercial aims. The incumbent will primarily operate across the range of propositions assisting in the management of legacy propositions, support of current propositions and development of new propositions.
Core Responsibilities
- Support the Senior Actuarial Manager in driving and promoting the commercial agenda for the business.
- Perform pricing and profitability testing for new and existing propositions.
- Support in the production of robust and comprehensive Risk Assessment and Profitability Reports.
- Support in the production of regular Proposition Reviews and ad-hoc analysis of existing propositions.
- Provide inputs towards the development of the wider market strategy.
- Support in the development and maintenance of Commercial Tools.
- Responsible for the maintenance and monitoring of policy concession process.
- Data collation, carrying out experience studies and ad-hoc analysis to assist in pricing assumption setting and other ad hoc actuarial projects.
- Provide commercial support on system implementation through carrying out systems testing covering changes to illustration systems, policy admin system, claims and reinsurance system, etc.
- Perform remediation calculations and other compensation/ restitution calculations.
- Proactively identify and drive process improvements within Commercial team.
Qualifications / Experience
- Degree holder in Actuarial Science or related disciplines and making good progress with actuarial exams
- Preferably 2 to 3 years of relevant actuarial experience
- Power user of spreadsheets with VBA programming, good understanding of actuarial modelling and software
- Good time management skills
- Strong technical skills preferred
- Strong communication skills in both written and spoken English and Chinese; competency in Putonghua is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of products, markets, regulation and legislative requirements is preferred but not a must
- Good presentation, problem-solving and interpersonal skills
- Candidates with less experience will be considered as Actuarial Analyst
