Financial Crime Compliance aligns current activities within Global Risk and helps to build these into a more integrated framework to conduct Customer Due Diligence which enables HSBC to manage financial crime risk more effectively. It builds stronger controls to improve the way Financial Crime Compliance risks are managed in order to spot gaps as well as trends so that the team can take action. It proactively gathers and analyses financial intelligence in a smart way so that suspicious transactions, activities or connections can be identified and we can adequately protect our customers from the threat of financial crime.

 

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as Senior Investigations Manager.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Have primary responsibility for conducting investigations referred /escalated to the Markets Team that have a nexus in the APAC region
  • Be a member and integral part of the global Markets Team and support all of the Market Team’s global deliverables, including investigation status updates, associated MI and reporting, and other ad-hoc tasks
  • Works with Complex Investigation specialists across the region and countries to identify and investigate financial crime risk, regulatory and conduct risk to the Global Markets business
  • Support execution of the global investigative procedures, which are designed to ensure the operational effectiveness of the investigative capability in addition to global consistency and global standards
  • Manages the sharing of information and creation of feedback loops across the firm to continuously adapt and improve the firm’s financial crime, regulatory risk and conduct controls and to support the Global Markets business in their first line responsibilities
  • Contribute to the framework, policies, procedures, and controls for the effective identification and mitigation of the specific financial crime, regulatory risk and conduct risks the firm faces
  • Demonstrate a high degree of autonomy as a Hong Kong based member of a team principally located in London but also able to provide support and coverage for the wider global Markets Team
  • Partner with FCTM Surveillance and the wider FCTM Investigations team, Global Markets Regulatory Compliance  (GMRC) and the  Global Markets business globally, interfacing with other functions, as necessary
  • Demonstrate appropriate investigative and interpretive skills to review and dissect key information from extensive trade, voice and e-comms data
  • Produce comprehensive and detailed investigation reports as well as identifying recommendations in respect to lessons learned and remedial actions
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, with experience dealing with executives at all levels

Requirement:     

  • Global Markets experience and understanding of Global Markets services and products are essential as is experience of working in a bank with a global footprint

  • Excellent understanding of the current and developing regulatory environment and expectations of regulators with respect to the Global Markets business is required, ideally from an APAC perspective

  • Detailed experience in mitigating the harms associated with the threat of financial crime at a strategic level

  • Leadership experience and a strategic thinker; Ability to develop efficient and effective solutions to complex global issues

  • Ability to quickly assimilate large amounts of complex data quickly, identify patterns and inconsistencies and determine investigation outcomes or next steps based on this analysis

  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills, with experience of dealing with executives at all levels

  • Excellent drafting and writing skills required
