Open-Source Analytics Team Leader

The Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT) team is responsible for IHS Markit Country Risk's proprietary data sets. The team is tasked with the sourcing, tagging, and quality-assurance of political and violent 'events' recorded in these databases. Their work contributes to analysis and consulting, in domains including political risk, piracy, and terrorism, for a range of clients in the public and private sectors. The key task for this Team Leader role is to manage, develop, and expand the existing team.

To be considered for this role, candidates will need to demonstrate:
• Proven, demonstrable experience of building and leading teams in the public or private sector;
• Strong English language skills, specifically the ability to convey information succinctly in writing and briefings;
• Strong research abilities, especially online and electronic research;
• Computer competency that includes a thorough working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint applications;
• The ability to quickly adapt and work with new information technology applications;
• A proven record of undertaking project-orientated work to strict deadlines, specifically facilitating teams' accomplishment of established qualitative and quantitative goals.
A background in geopolitical risk or security analysis would be beneficial but is not essential.

Job Description
The successful candidate will:
• Lead the professional OSINT (Open-Source Intelligence) team, which will be largely based out of Bangalore;
• Build the team to deliver IHS Markit's vision for next-generation OSINT, identifying key personnel, then training and motivating them to fully engage with this developmental work;
• Be a critical member of the next-gen OSINT team, able to allocate resources to test new tools, techniques, and processes, and able to provide clear and concise feedback from Bangalore to London;
• Provide day-to-day line management of existing personnel and the growing team out of Bangalore.
