Contributes to the overall success of the Product Services Group & Investment Funds/ Global Portfolio Advisory Group (GPAG) / Scotia Wealth Management in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team's business strategies and objectives.

The incumbent will be part of a team responsible for overseeing products offered to IIROC-businesses within Scotia Wealth clients as well as providing expertise on the various products that are currently offered.

1. Manage Portfolio Aid securities database by:

  • Researching new securities to determine risk rating
  • Monitoring risk rating changes and ensuring ratings are in line with prescribed methodology
  • Providing explanation of ratings to Advisors
  • Liase with the Business, Compliance and Portfolio Aid to incorporate methodology changes

    2. Contribute to the effective functioning of the team by:
  • Compiling daily and monthly reporting for internal stakeholders
  • Provide support to Advisors with creation of portfolio proposals and respond to ad hoc advisor requests with qualified and value-added ideas
  • Support the management of the Mutual Funds, Alternative Assets and ETF Recommended Lists across Canada and Internationally

    3. Manage database of securities
  • Researching holdings to determine classification
  • Maintaining database of approved products for distribution including continuous offerings, non-syndicated offerings and products available for accredited investors
  • Entering information as determined by analysis by the team

4. Other Accountabilities

  • Building effective working relationships across the team and with various business line and corporate function contacts
  • Provide ad-hoc reporting
  • Providing support and coverage for colleagues and their work functions
  • Keep abreast of industry product development & practices, new regulations etc

Education/Other Experience:

  • 5-7 years of experience in the Securities investment industry
  • Undergraduate degree
  • Canadian Securities Course preferred
