We are looking for an accomplished Software Engineer to lead a team of technical software and infrastructure Engineers to work on key financial messaging and analytic systems. You will have substantial proficiency across a broad range of software development and product delivery disciplines, be results oriented and have an excellent understanding of server-side asynchronous development in challenging massive dataset environments.
You need to be a smart, motivated team player who can deliver. The role will require liaising with key stakeholders which will include working with business users, product development team, architects, and other business functions as necessary.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Manage a team of highly agile and deeply technically Software Engineers, dedicated to high velocity, high quality and solution elegance
• Deliver highly scalable, performant and available, cloud based back end solutions
• Great problem-solving skills, with the ability and confidence to hack your way out of tight corners
• Understand the design and implementation of core frameworks for reuse across projects
• Perform code reviews and promote high coding standards and practices
• Strong organisational skills and ability to successfully manage multiple tasks
• Able to inspire a team to continuously improve both technically and personally
• Strong interpersonal skills, client service oriented and resilient
• Capable of working and leading in a pressured environment to tight deadlines
• Nights and weekend work is sometimes expected, but with hard work comes flexibility
• To fulfil any additional / ad hoc duties as required to meet the needs of the business

PERSON SPECIFICATION:
• Languages
o Extensive expertise of C# and the .NET framework in a server-side environment
o Excellent understanding of Object Oriented Programming and design patterns
o Helpful to have knowledge of Java and the core Java ecosystem
o Helpful to have experience of Python

• Frameworks
o Real-world experience of SQL Server, ideally on massive datasets
o Working knowledge of NoSQL databases, especially DynamoDB
o Helpful to have experience of other SQL databases, especially PostgreSQL
o Ideally experience of Akka.NET and an understanding of reactive programming
o Helpful to have experience of Kafka and Redis
o Helpful to have experience of Web API and REST interface design
o Ideally experience of .NET Core, especially the porting of an existing codebase
o Helpful to have knowledge of NHibernate

• Technologies
o Excellent experience of AWS, including Redshift, S3, Kinesis, DynamoDB and EC2
o Real-world experience of Windows Server, with a focus on service development
o Helpful to have experience with Linux/UNIX, especially within EC2 environments
o Familiarity with virtualization and container technologies such as Docker
o Useful to have experience of gRPC

• Methodologies
o Extensive experience leading teams in an agile and collaborative way
o Experienced with continuous Integration and Deployment and DevOps principles, including use of tools such as TeamCity, Octopus and Chef
o Good understanding of testing methodologies and strategies
