The System Architecture team is tasked with guiding the technical architecture of the Worldwide Payment Gateway as well as taking the lead in building new services in the cloud - including greenfield development and migrating existing functionality where appropriate. We make the key decisions which set technical direction and provide architectural leadership in our cross-functional, cross-platform Agile Release Trains.
We're looking for a talented System Architect to join the team and help us take our systems into the future.
How will you contribute? In this role, you'll partner with Product and Delivery teams to guide the development of top-quality systems. You'll prepare and maintain target and transitional architecture roadmaps for both platforms and products, agree these roadmaps and partner with development teams to deliver them. You'll maintain a close vigil on platform health - ensuring it remains resilient, scalable, maintainable and secure at all times and preventing the accrual of technical debt.
Part of this role is to keep abreast of emerging payment technology and architectural trends - and provide insights to the engineering leadership. You'll create prototypes and proofs of concept to provide inspiration and innovation, drive technology assessment and build vs buy decisions in partnership with colleagues in Enterprise Architecture. You'll mentor teams where helpful, provide regular updates to them on architectural strategy and provide technical leadership to the Agile Release Trains.
Why you? You'll have design leadership experience and experience with enterprise-grade development, including multi-threaded or high volume applications. You'll have the ability to work with both legacy codebases and greenfield development and have experience with agile methods - ideally SAFe.
We're looking for good industry knowledge including languages, products, open source frameworks and design patterns. You'll have experience with software architectures such as messaging, distributed databases, clustering, load balancing etc., as well as experience with either Java or C# development. Great stakeholder management skills is key to the success in this role, and we're looking for excellent communication and coordination skills with the ability to speak and present to large groups of people.
