If so, we currently have a great opportunity for an Assistant Finance Manager to join our Retail Divisional Income team, based in Halifax.

In the Retail Divisional Income team, we pride ourselves on providing 1st class analysis and insight as to how the Retail Division is performing and where we are heading. As our Assistant Finance Manager, you'll be responsible for reporting on the Retail Other Operating Income (OOI) and the associated costs to income.

We are looking for a motivated individual with strong analytic and communication skills, who can thrive in a dynamic finance environment. You'll join a team of experienced finance professionals who work together to continually deliver and improve our service to our key stakeholders, where you'll have the opportunity to gain an in depth knowledge of the Retail product areas and the drivers behind OOI. In this role, you 'll build effective relationships and work closely with stakeholders from across the Division.

As this is a month end reporting role, some flexibility in working patterns is required, to meet the needs of the business.

As an Assistant Finance Manager, your responsibilities will include:

  • Accurate and timely production of month end reporting including insightful month end commentary
  • Production of OOI / Op Lease Depreciation income walks
  • Being able to clearly explain variances to Budget to stakeholders
  • Seek to continuously improve the reporting infrastructure capability, looking for improvements in insight and efficiency
  • Maintain and improve effective and robust financial controls
  • Establish and build relationships with customers to identify business requirements and provide appropriate support and guidance


Ideally you'll be studying for a professional finance qualification, or have the desire to do so, although this is not essential.

Preferably you will have a proven track record of supporting financial reporting, and need to be able to use and manipulate spreadsheets, produce formatted charts and use advanced formulae and pivot tables.

Other essential skills and proven experience you will need to have are:

  • Advanced use of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Experienced in data interrogation from financial systems
  • Strong variance analysis skills, ability to identify and understand drivers of income movements
  • A growth mind-set, the ability to challenge yourself and the ways we work to continuously grow


A strong customer focus, and strong communication and presentation skills are also essential.
