AD&S Research and Analysis Standards Coordinator

The role of the standards coordinator is to drive the documentation and organization of the various standards and methodologies that are in place for the various content and data sets produced by the AD&S business line. A key element of this is ensuring that all standards and methodologies adhere to a single template and overarching structure for both internal and customer facing use/applications. This will require excellent communication skills as there will be a significant amount of collaboration with the research and analysis teams to capture existing rule sets, dictionaries, definitions and workflows, as well as crafting new ones where they do not currently exist.
A particularly close working relationship will be required with the structured data teams, and as such it would be beneficial if the candidate has a background in database management and/or structured data workflows.

  • Work with desk heads and other senior content team members to establish requirements and capture pre-existing standards documentation.
  • Transform any pre-existing standards documentation, workflow documentation and similar in to a common format with consistent attributes.
  • Establish, own and maintain a single repository for all AD&S content standards, definitions and workflow documentation.
  • Manage a change request/revision process to ensure that changes are tracked, approved by all relevant stakeholders and communicated to the wider organization.
  • Liaise with commercial teams to ensure that we have customer facing documentation that can be shared with offline customers and systems integrators as needed.
  • Identify and draw up new definition lists, processes for documentation, workflows and similar.
  • Resolve any inconsistent/contradictory definitions or standards that are being applied across the R&A area through negotiation and agreement with relevant stakeholders.

Skills, qualifications and experience
  • A background in database management and/or structured content transformation would be an advantage
  • Keen interest in military equipment and subjects
  • Relevant qualifications in an area such as records management or other library sciences
  • Previous experience in the independent creation and management of standards documentation
  • Track record of working with a diverse stakeholder group to implement change
  • Experience of working with international teams is also desirable
  • University Bachelor's/Master's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
