An exciting opportunity to join the rapidly growing and developing world of automated operations in the Network Services field. We are looking for an experienced technical analyst to support the long term operations of automated activities that are used to help support the UBS corporate network.
A variety of activites are automated and the list is rapidly growing. They support key functional roles in the organization including implementations, operations and specialty areas like risk and change management.
These automations run on a set of standardized platforms detailed below, and require full lifecycle management, from UAT and release, through their Production lifecycle to replacement or decommissioning. You would be heavily involved in all of these areas as part of a small international team.
This team supports the everyday operation of the UBS enterprise network. Our specialty is the provision and operation of the toolset used by the engineers and analysts as they perform those support tasks.
The software and systems used to manage configurations and backups, 24x7 monitoring and alerting, performance tuning, and forensic investifagations when things go wrong are all within our scope. Increasingly, automated routines are supplementing the human use of these tools. Alerts are increasingly triggering diagnostics, some resulting in automated corrective actions, reports are being automatically analyzed and remedies scheduled, and evidence for regulators and audits is being accumulated on a more frequent and reliable basis than ever before. These roles are vital to our modern operations and the number of areas that are in scope is rapidly expanding.
If you are the ideal candidate you will have a broad range of general IT knowledge since this role will expose you to a wide variety of challenges.
Basic server knowledge sufficient to install and operate software in an enterprise environment is required. Linux experience is more valuable to us than Windows skills. Your knowledge will permit you to manage filesystems, storage, backups and maintain good performance on a range of server and VM platforms.
Fundamental scripting knowledge in Perl or Python is essential. A heathy amount of database knowledge, ideally Postgres SQL, is required too. Since our jobs are scheduled in Autosys, any experience in that realm is advantageous.
Specialist skills in the areas of Netcool, IPCenter, Cisco NSO or other orchestration software/suites will be extensively utilized in this role. Management of automation initatives utilizing different combinations of the above technologies forms the core of this role and while we aim for standardized solutions, we end up with varied solutions. Your abilities in these areas will be the primary differentiators between you and other applicants.
We also expect you to be a good communicator. Verbal and written skills are essential, with evidence of strong technical writing and documentation being advantageous. You will need to be able to work in teams or individually as different projects will call for contributions in either or both capacities.
You will need to be organized and logical in order to keep track of many different in-flight projects and their deadlines as they move through their lifecycles
