An opportunity for outstanding Java 8 and/or Javascript engineers with experience or an interest in learning Angular.js, OO Javascript, Flux, Sass, Cytoscape.js, Microservices, Neo4j, Elasticsearch, MongoDB and AWS. This is a full stack role for Java/Javascript software developers to hone their skills in a very well-funded and successful tech company within the pharmacology sector who are combining cutting edge big data and AI (Deep Learning) techniques with ground breaking biomedical research.


Looking for a superb full-stack Java 8/Javascript software engineer to join this company's product development team. You will be involved in the design and development of brand new web-based tools, to be used by the company's medical scientists. You will therefore be a good communicator who enjoys working collaboratively to build robust software that will stand the test of time for this company's scientists to conduct their ground breaking research. You'll be given lots of autonomy to make key decisions about iterating on software and be a natural team player and creative thinker who shares and discusses ideas.

You will be an excellent software engineer with solid development practices - TDD, Agile and Continuous Integration. You'll be used to working in an Agile team, with rapid prototyping and 2 week sprints. You'll also ideally have full-stack experience or very strong skills in either Javascript or Java, with a keen interest in extending your skillset across a wider spectrum of technology, which currently includes: Angular.js, OO Javascript, Flux, Sass, Cytoscape.js, Microservices, Neo4j, Elasticsearch, MongoDB and AWS.

You may also have a knack for user experience, data visualization, algorithm design, machine learning and there may be opportunities to grow these other skills as part of your role if you so wish.

  • An excellent senior web-application developer with the ability to deliver clean, extendible and robust code and unit test cases.
  • Expert programming skills in at least one of Javascript or Java. The ideal candidate will be proficient in both.
  • Knowledge and experience in common frameworks and patterns.
  • A strong advocate of test driven development, automated testing and other practices for producing resilient software.
  • An experienced hand and senior voice to guide away from mistakes you've seen before.
  • Experience of Agile scrum, fast iterative environments, and version control.
