The position
The Portfolio Construction Technology team is responsible for providing front-office Information Technology capabilities to Wellington's Investment teams. The team plays a critical role in our firm's success by providing technical solutions which improve the efficiency, speed and quality of the highly complex investment decision-making process.

As a member of the Portfolio Construction Technology team, this individual will be responsible for solutions delivery for Fixed Income, Equity and Multi-Asset Investment business. This is an ideal opportunity for an IT professional to apply business and/or technical skills to enable investment process to become more efficient:

  • Lead delivery of high quality business solutions;
  • Interface and coordinate with the broad Information Services teams to ensure successful delivery;
  • Demonstrate strong project management and leadership skills with ability to handle multiple activities in a dynamic fast paced environment.
  • Interact with Investment professionals at all levels of the organization as needed, to proactively identify opportunities for new/improved systems to improve the investment process.


Responsibilites
  • Lead delivery of high quality business solutions.
  • Interface and coordinate with the broad Information Technology teams to ensure successful delivery.
  • Demonstrate strong project management and leadership skills with ability to handle multiple activities in a dynamic fast paced environment.
  • Interact with Investment professionals at all levels of the organization as needed, to proactively identify opportunities for new/improved systems to improve the investment process.
  • Lead the implementation of business solutions in conjunction with the technical development.
  • Perform gap analysis between investment process and existing systems
  • Lead and establish effective processes for productive partnership with offshore technical teams.
  • Lead implementation of business process improvements involving (but not limited to) investment process efficiency, data quality improvements and simplifying investor work flow.

Qualifications
Technical Requirements
  • Minimum of five years of experience in financial industry with strong understanding of cross asset products (Fixed Income, Equities, Derivatives securities or financial markets like Foreign Exchange, Money Market, etc.).
  • Experience with Fixed Income and Equity Portfolio Management, Portfolio Construction and Order Management tools.
  • Demonstrated experience developing specifications, test plans and test executions.
  • Intermediate level expertise with SQL and Excel VBA. Exposure to technologies like Oracle BI is preferred but not a pre-requisite.
  • Demonstrated experience in business analysis for medium to large initiatives.
  • Experience with, and demonstrated understanding of modern software development and testing methodologies.
  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • CFA or working towards CFA or other similar professional investment qualification is a plus
