Job Description: CAPS Connectivity Generalist

Department/Area Function

Connectivity, Activation, and Production Support (CAPS) is a multipurpose 3-shift operation responsible for providing clients with both pre- and post-production support for all of DTCCs subsidiaries and applications.   In the pre-production support role, CAPS support clients across all subsidiaries in establishing connectivity to the complex. This requires coordination with the customer along with Enterprise Infrastructure, and in some cases ADM, to facilitate line orders and communication protocol set ups and tests. In the post-production role, CAPS facilitate and monitors the setup of input and output files for the customer base, utilizing the CDTS application. CAPS also monitor input and output files and messages to ensure our applications are functioning properly. 

In addition to assisting clients with the business and technical aspects of data provided and/or sent, the group schedules and implements disaster recovery tests, administers application tests in DTCC test regions, and coordinates business and technical customer conversions (e.g. Company mergers, Data format, Protocol changes).

Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide connectivity and technical support for DTCCs clients, vendors and exchanges.
  • Recommends work process improvements and may serve on process improvement teams to act as subject matter expert.
  • Provide connectivity and technical support for DTCCs subsidiaries which include NSCC, DTC, FICC and DTCC Solutions. Serve as an escalation point of contact for outages and Major Incident events.   
  • In depth understanding of how the transfer protocols work including FTP/S, SFTP, IBM MQ Messaging, Connect: Direct Network Data Mover (NDM), including detailed knowledge of which DTCC departments are involved in supporting each protocol.
  • Ability to resolve customer problems with little or no supervision. Assist/direct more junior staff in the absence of the manager.
  • Handle all setup procedures and determine alternate methods to process customer requests should a roadblock occur.
  • The candidate will be required to work in a number of different environments including Linux/Unix and IBM Mainframe, utilizing various managed file transfer middleware infrastructure systems.  
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding DataTrak processing anomalies.
  • Respond to customer inquiries regarding file output re-transmissions.
  • In depth understanding of data communications, CICS, VTAM, TCP/IP, DataTrak/AutoRoute.
  • Understanding of internal and external testing procedures and GTR, NSCC products and services.
  • Liaison to the Product and Relationship Management areas.
  • Represent the department at various application project meetings.
  • Responsible for timely customer configuration updates to DataTrak, AutoRoute and CDTS.
  • Responsible for supporting the department in adherence to AML/BSA policies and procedures as set-forth by various regulatory bodies.
  • Individual/analyst will need to be available and be able to support all business functions off hours and/or from home on an as needed basis.

  • Able to interact with individuals of all business and technical backgrounds and levels, from internal and external customers on a daily basis.
  • Prepared to work overtime and weekend hours based upon business needs and requirements.
  • Demonstrates the ability and confidence to bring new ideas and suggestions for consideration.

Desirable Knowledge & Skills

  • Financial services or industry related experience.
  • 5+ years of Systems Engineering experience within large enterprise environments. Minimum of 3 years file transfer experience.
  • Experience in testing and implementing managed file transfer solutions.
  • Experience with Linux/Unix commands.
  • Knowledge and experience in the following protocols: SSH, SSL, IBM MQ Messaging, Connect: Direct Network Data Mover (NDM).
