  • Position Summary:

    The Program Lead (Partnership Program) will play a key role in helping the firm expand the Bain Alliance Ecosystem by driving the development of partnership program assets such as frameworks, policies and procedures, how-to guides, training materials, and more.  These assets will be based on the synthesis of best practices gleaned from practice and product teams as well as external research.  This role will also play a large role in disseminating learnings throughout the organization and advising individual practice and product teams on partnership development activities. 

    This role will require strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, as well the ability to simplify complex ideas and processes into clear and effective program assets.   Program Lead (Partnership Program) will have significant interaction with senior stakeholders across Bain, including practice areas, product teams and front-line Bain teams.  This role will also engage with many other departments in Bain, including the technology services group, legal, marketing, and the next generation product management team.

    Department Overview:

    Bain’s Business Development (BD) team leads development of the Bain Alliance Ecosystem (BAE), a curated network of partnerships that helps Bain clients and teams get better results faster.  The BD team leads development and delivery of firm-level priority partnerships, in collaboration with partnership champions.  The BD team facilitates development and delivery of all other partnerships through transaction support at key stage gates and one repeatable model for success.  The BD team infuses the model with best practices distilled from all partnership development and delivery activity at Bain.

    Essential Functions:

    Lead the development of partnership program assets

    • Manage the roadmap for asset development
    • Identify, synthesize and codify best practices, frameworks and recommendations across all stages of partnership development
      • In collaboration with the BDT colleagues
      • Based on engagement with practice areas, product teams and front-line Bain teams
      • Supplemented with external research
    • Lead the development of new templates and processes to make the development and management of partnerships more efficient
    • Serve as a trusted advisor to the front-line and practice/product teams on Bain’s partnership approach and portfolio

    Lead assigned process improvement initiatives, such as:

    • Building the infrastructure to track casework involving partners, including both software and people support required (in conjunction with relevant departments such as the firm’s central Knowledge Management team)
    • Building the infrastructure needed to track revenues and other economics related to partnership activities (in conjunction with relevant departments such as Finance)

    Lead key components of the rollout of internal marketing/training programs:

    • Lead the thinking on high-impact content delivery mechanisms for both internal and external audiences (e.g., videos, affiliate calls, etc.)
    • Contribute to the roadmap for developing internal “storefronts” (e.g, Tools and Services Portal, firmwide vendor management system, GXC page, etc.)

    Contribute to the rollout of other aspects of the partnership program

    • Support the integration of Alliance Partners in proposals, as needed
    • Support the rollout of a partnership risk management program
    • Support the external marketing program around the Bain Alliance Ecosystem (Press releases, in conjunction with practice/product leaders; Bain.com presence; conferences; etc.)

    Contribute to team culture and professional development

    • Cultivate strong collaboration and teamwork across the BD team and with external stakeholders
    • Contribute to the coaching/professional development of colleagues

    Other duties and special projects as required

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Bachelor’s degree
    • Minimum of 5 years work experience
    • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships with all levels throughout the organization
    • Ability to synthesize learnings, patterns and trends across disparate case studies
    • Strong communication skills, both orally and in writing
    • Strong ability to codify complex ideas/processes into simple, visually impactful materials
    • Ability to operate in environment with frequently changing priorities
    • Proven ability to work independently as well as collaboratively as part of a team
    • Willingness to team with colleagues across the globe and in different time zones
    • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word

    Preferred:

    • MBA or other quantitative or legal advanced degree
    • Experience sourcing and developing alliance partnership relationships
    • 2+ years of management consulting experience or 4+ years of knowledge management experience
    • Experience building knowledge assets such as frameworks, approaches, policies and procedures, templates, etc.
