Department Profile
Global Financial Crimes (GFC) coordinates day-to-day implementation of the Firm's enterprise-wide financial crime prevention efforts. GFC includes several legal and compliance disciplines and has responsibility for governance, oversight and execution of the Firm's Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Sanctions, Anti-Corruption and Government and Political Activities Compliance programs. GFC also develops and/or assists in the development of appropriate policies and procedures, including those designed to assist the business units to know their clients and conduct appropriate due diligence and to prevent, detect and report potentially suspicious activity. GFC has dedicated coverage managers and teams of analysts who advise and counsel each business unit regarding its AML, economic sanctions and anti-corruption obligations and its particular clients and transactions.

Primary Responsibilities
The Senior Financial Crimes Advisor for Wealth Management will help lead an advisory team that focuses on the anti-money laundering obligations associated with the Firm's Wealth Management (WM) and digital platform businesses. The group is comprised of team leads and analysts who focus on a variety of tasks, including providing financial crimes related advice and guidance to the WM businesses, performing enhanced due diligence associated with clients and accounts, and serving as an escalation point for AML, sanctions and corruption issues in the WM space. In this role, the Senior Financial Crimes Advisor for Wealth Management will lead important GFC initiatives, serve as point of escalation and provide guidance to the WM business, decision significant client matters that pose potential AML risk, represent GFC on senior committees and interact with key stakeholders across GFC, the Legal and Compliance Division and WM.

Reporting Lines
This role reports to the Head of Bank and Wealth Management Financial Crimes Advisory and will have direct report(s).
Specific job responsibilities include:
- Provide guidance and direction to business and compliance teams on issues related to AML, sanctions, and anti-corruption laws and regulations, including the USA PATRIOT Act, Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC/HMT regulations, U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA), UK Bribery Act, etc.
  • Serve as point of escalation and provide support in connection with Know Your Customer (KYC) onboarding, enhanced due diligence and transactional due diligence matters
  • Advise on transactional due diligence with respect to clients, counterparties, co-investors, and target companies/assets and provide guidance to the business on due diligence requirements
  • Serve as point of escalation and provide support in connection with regulatory interpretation and application of facts in connection with policies
- Decision client matters with significant reputational risk and potential financial crimes exposure
- Advise on issues related to Know Your Customer (KYC) obligations, including reviewing complex structures and higher risk customers for AML related-risks
- Assist in identifying and reporting suspicious activity
- Drive compliance with the Firm's Global KYC Standards across the Firm
- Interpret and advise on relevant laws and industry best practices pertaining to AML
- Supervise WM responses to U.S. regulatory exams and other inquiries, and internal audits, including overseeing document productions
- Identify weaknesses, gaps and areas for enhancement across processes and platforms that impact GFC, determine appropriate solutions and lead corrective action efforts
- Lead special projects arising from the administration of the WM Financial Crimes program
- Liaise and coordinate within GFC and with key stakeholders across the Firm, including Legal, Compliance, Regulatory Relations, and Risk, to ensure appropriate execution of the Firm's WM financial crimes prevention program
- Coordinate execution of WM Financial Crimes program changes with key stakeholders (Operations, Technology, Compliance, and GFC)
- Represent WM Financial Crimes in meetings and on committees with senior management and other stakeholders

Qualifications:

Skills required
Candidates must have:
- 4 year college degree with strong academic credentials
- Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, preferably at a large/complex financial institution, law firm, or government/regulatory body
- Detailed understanding of the laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to AML and wealth management businesses
- Ability to understand and assess a wide variety of complex products, services and client types
- Highly-motivated self-starter able to work independently while collaborating and coordinating as part of a global program
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to provide viable solutions in a time-sensitive environment
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills and attention to detail
- Strong project management skills
- Sound judgment and an ability to appropriately escalate issues internally
- Proven ability to handle highly confidential information with appropriate discretion
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and team-player attitude
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

- Juris Doctor (JD) degree with strong academic credentials
- Certification as an Anti-Money Laundering Specialist by ACAMS or equivalent AML certification/license - or certification within first 15 months of employment
