The Location: New York

S&P Global Market Intelligence

The Team: The Content Acquisition and Strategic Alliances (CASA) team is the market data advisory group to the S&P Global enterprise. The CASA group currently leads this function for S&P Global Market Intelligence, S&P Ratings Services, S&P Platts and Kensho and is prepared to support and assume responsibility for additional businesses. CASA has a collaborative, proactive & strategic approach to content acquisition, data sharing, savings/synergies and governance.
The Impact: You will help acquire data needs, with strong terms and cost effective fees. S&P Global clients, which are far-reaching rely on the data in our platforms and CASA, and this position directly impacts the ability to provide this data. These same partners rely on you to ensure that they have the appropriate rights, and remain aligned with these rights. We rely on CASA; you will govern the third party content use and rights as well as facilitate asset sharing across the global organization.

  • Commercial deal and contractual negotiations - vendor selection process, negotiation of commercial terms and finalize into complete and executed agreements, obtain necessary approvals, and post-execution management of rights and obligations for vendor partnerships. For larger/broader partnerships, collaborate with other CASA colleagues, including the head of CASA, as necessary.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with the company's third party content and service providers, keeping up to date on the latest offerings and vendor options. Forge solid relationships with all key internal customers to understand their products, content and business needs.
  • Work with the businesses to build strategies around product creation, improvements and increased revenues and execute on strategies by presenting and procuring approvals and recommendations to either buy/acquire, organically create/build, or license content and related services.
  • Review requests for additional content and services. Create RFI/RFP's as necessary to send to prospective vendors.
  • Lead contract renewal process for all vendors and agreements handled by the Americas region team. Assess potential for re-evaluation and re-negotiation as may best benefit the evolving needs and budgets of the business.
  • Ensure compliance with existing license grants, making recommendations on potential risks and suggested actions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date summaries of all vendor relationships and related contracts and terms for vendors responsible for.
  • Meet with business partners and vendors, review news and periodicals, attend training and events to continuously grow and evolve knowledgebase of S&P's products and services, S&P's 3rd party vendor partners, and the overall financial information and market data industry.
  • Implement and promote standard methodologies globally, including finding opportunities to optimize and use data sources across the organization. Abide by CASA standards and protocol, implementing new processes and procedures to evolve with the business and optimize the workflows of CASA and its value provided to the businesses CASA supports.
  • Oversee and facilitate the sharing of data and information assets between and among businesses while following the proscribed guidelines of Data Sharing Framework.

What We're Looking For:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 8+ years relevant experience specifically focused on financial information/market data vendor relationship management, contract negotiations and overall market data management.
  • Complex and creative commercial deal negotiation experience as well as strong aptitude for reviewing, revising, and authoring contract terms
  • Attention to detail, follow-through on projects and multi-tasking skills a must.
  • Solid knowledge of financial information and market data industry - including various vendors and products available in the marketplace.
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook. This position will frequently work within Word for contractual review, Excel for costs/budget and other reporting, PowerPoint for presentations, and Outlook for mail & calendar
  • Strong customer focus with proven ability to be highly responsive and present solutions to requests and issues. CASA is a centralized business support team and function, and all business partners within the firm are our customers.
  • Comfortable liaising with internal partners and external vendors at a variety of levels.
  • Solid presentation and writing skills with ability to influence.
  • Excellent organizational and team building skills.
  • Strong interpersonal verbal and written communications skills with the ability to inspire others to find creative solutions to challenging situations or problems.
