Role Overview:
Position is integral to the role of supporting the function of Portfolio Management for the GBAM CTO organizations. As a team member you will have responsibility for ensuring governance, metrics and Portal tools are used effectively throughout the organization and recommending continuous improvement in everything we do. Responsible for reporting and designing the appropriate reports to monitor progress of the portfolio. CTO area has responsibility for timely and cost effective delivery of infrastructure programs to the Global Banking & Markets technology teams. The candidate will provide experience and knowledge in the planning, performance management, programming and budgeting field in support both growth and maintenance of strategic global programs. This position will be accountable to the Head of Portfolio Management for the Global Markets & Banking CTO and COO as well as the respective business sponsors of the projects and programs, working closely with project managers and engagement services.

The successful candidate will work as a member of the GBAM CTO team and lead activities to proactively and strategically plan and assess the use of IT portfolio(s) of the Global Markets organization. The incumbent will manage and support the Book of Work portfolio for GMT CTO including the provision of technical assistance to the investment (capital/initiative) and decision support functions to improve alignment with strategies and goals. Also responsible for generating and tracking metrics to better manage the portfolio and drive value.
Job Description:

  • Assist in developing conversion strategy for teams not using Portal
  • Assist the head of Portfolio management in developing processes for Portfolio Management
  • Apply systematic management to Portal and help with capabilities to quantify, measure, and evaluate efforts against strategic goals and objectives for the portfolio
  • Provide technical assistance to team for Portal and processes managed including investment and decision support functions
  • Create reports and support the generation of comprehensive reports to justify information technology investments
  • Support planning and creation of Portal platform roadmap and delivery of a release plan and key functionality required
  • Deliver reporting on key performance indicators for the Sr. Leadership Team and actively assess project performance via the GBAM CTO Health Dashboard
  • Evaluate metrics and build new where applicable
  • Support the establishment, manage, and update IT portfolio management processes - best in class. Find issues and document improvement procedures
  • Provide requisite expertise and support establishing, managing, and updating portfolio management processes correlated with the Portal Community
  • Help Prepare bi-weekly portfolio meetings with stakeholders and support of deck creation including quarterly business reviews
Portfolio Management:
  • Conduct performance management analysis and decision support that realizes routine investment performance (e.g., cost, schedule, and performance) against planned accomplishments through coordinated program reviews with program stakeholders
  • Provide recommendations for resource allocation to improve alignment with strategies and goals
  • Draft portfolio-level and program-level planning guidance input, and coordinate input with stakeholders
  • Integrate complementary portfolio functions and information with budget processes and requisition deliverables (e.g., Capital Planning submission), and leveraging portfolio tools/information to address formal and ad-hoc finance related data calls from stakeholders
  • Support Project Managers and Senior Leadership team managing program
  • Provide support to establish and facilitate the associated decision support processes to control and justify information technology investments and align with budget and forecasting processes
  • Support compliance with the capital and allocation planning processes
  • Financial and Workforce integration for evaluation of projects in the Portfolio
  • Manage relationships with primary platform vendors
  • Build relationships with Sr. Leadership teams, business management and project managers, become a trusted advisor
Required Skills
  • 10+ years in project/program management, encompassing the full life cycle of planning, execution, implementation, and BAU handover
  • Requires 5+ years leadership and management experience in managing IT programs of work
  • Experience in product or platform development with a track record of coordinating and implementing large scale initiatives preferred
  • Extensive experience with Portfolio Management technology and platforms required with strong emphasis on knowledge of industry trends and capabilities (PPM, APPTIO)
  • Strategic thinker and team player with a track record executing complex projects in a matrix environment
  • 3-5 years support experience in Process Design, Governance, EPO, Technology or similar environment
  • Ability to integrate and analyze data from multiple sources, draw conclusions and prepare/present executive-level material
  • Experience working in high visibility, high pressure environment
  • Highly organized and detail oriented, with the ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities.
  • Data mining and analysis skills
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to identify insights to help drive business performance and shape strategy
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
