The P&A Lead Analyst in Global Branded Cards Finance is a line of business facing role that provides financial support for business development initiatives, such as co-brand partnerships, asset acquisitions and divestitures, joint ventures and strategic partnerships. In addition, the successful candidate will contribute to the identification of corporate strategic initiatives, including expected impacts on the long-range business plan.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Financial valuations, including pro forma forecasting and discounted cash/capital flow modeling
  • Deal structuring, including optimization of GAAP and tax impacts
  • Partner / Seller negotiation support in connection with financial terms and conditions
  • On-site financial due diligence
  • Coordination of valuation activities with external advisors, including consultants, investment bankers and/or accounting firms
  • Post-acquisition performance analyses
  • Assessment and recommendation on key strategic initiatives

Required Skills:
  • Advanced application of financial and mathematical theories
  • Advanced Excel modeling skills
  • Advanced quantitative and qualitative analytical problem-solving skills
  • Conversant in accounting, treasury, tax and legal implications of M&A transactions
  • Strong oral communication and written presentation skills
  • Ability to work with ambiguity and collaborate across the organization
  • Ability to develop creative solutions to deal structuring issues without compromising the integrity of the company or transaction
  • Ability to think on your feet
  • 5 plus years of relevant experience


Qualifications

MBA Preferred
Prior Finance experience and/or CFA certification a plus
  • Develop P&L drivers, income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements and profitability metrics for potential co-brand (de novo) partnerships
  • Perform financial valuations of prospective portfolio acquisitions and/or divestitures and recommend optimal deal structure
  • Illustrate financial impact of potential transactions on long-range business plan
  • Partner with business teams to translate customer value proposition into financial terms while maintaining balance with program economic requirements
  • Develop deal structures to maximize profitability, minimize constrained capital and close the valuation gap between buyer and seller
  • Partner with Risk to develop stress scenarios for potential deals
  • Partner with Accounting Policy to articulate appropriate GAAP treatment for transactions
  • Partner with Product Finance team to transition programs into BAU plans
  • Partner with Legal to ensure contractual terms and conditions match deal structure
  • Support financial due diligence efforts
  • Perform fair market valuation of loans on balance sheet (SFAS 107)
  • Utilize data base systems (such as DBF, Essbase and others) for the retrieval, organization and application of large quantities of data
  • Create, implement and/or maintain a governance model around business development engagements
  • Identify process improvement needs, create strategies to optimize approach, and collaborate with necessary stakeholders to execute on these strategies
