THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE The Digital Engineering team is looking for a Technical Product Manager that will help in shaping products with full-stack software engineers at the center of everything we do. As a Technical Product Manager, you will be responsible for executing product strategy, road mapping, feature refinement, and delivery. You will work with cross-functional teams to enable critical digital transformations with your products, all inner-sourced and contributed by Software Engineers across Fannie Mae. You will be working within our API Ecosystem, Microservices Frameworks, and other foundational products all running in the Cloud. You will also have a deep understanding/experience with Agile/Lean methods having optimized your Squads delivery by shifting from Scrum to Kanban.
In this role, you will have the flexibility to make each day your own, while working alongside people who care so that you can deliver on the following responsibilities:
  • End to end responsibility for a medium complexity product or major capability within a highly complex product
  • Communicates committed stories for the upcoming sprint to backlog owners and stakeholders; and conducts sprint reviews to story owners and stakeholders to ensure the user story intent has been met.
  • Formally and/or informally leads cross functional work cell (squad)
  • Establishes backlog of product features. Continuously grooms the product backlog. Writes user stories and acceptance criteria in collaboration with the team. Accepts completed user stories
  • Engages users, customers and stakeholders to validate product features. Works with key stakeholders to define customer testing and rollout approach
  • Manages cross-squad dependencies within or across products
  • Engages with SIM to select customers for testing
  • Establishes product metrics, capability metrics and/or release metrics
  • May have budget/roadmap responsibility for a medium complexity product
THE EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO THE TEAM Education Level (Required)
  • Bachelors degree
Experience (Primary)
  • 4 - 6 years of related experience
Specialized Knowledge and Skills from Hiring Manager Required Skills
  • At least 4+ years of experience in Digital Product Management
  • Experience as a Scrum Master including both Scrum and Kanban methodologies
  • In-depth knowledge of Agile process and principles including LeanStack (Lean Canvas)
  • Experience working through rigorous process of test and learn with focus on identifying and developing a minimum viable product (MVP)
  • In-depth knowledge of customer-centric product development (Design Thinking)
  • Solid understanding of the product lifecycle
  • Ability to be creative in execution tactics and not afraid to discomfort the status quo
Desired Skills
  • Experience leading high performing agile teams including mentoring and training on the digital product lifecycle
  • Experience with open source product management would be a plus
  • Experience enabling an enterprise-wide digital transformation building out an API ecosystem, Microservices Framework, Micro-frontend Frameworks, etc.
  • Experience eliminating product roadmap dependencies
  • Experience with Product DOJO would be a major plus
