Our client is a well-established international securities firm with a strong presence across Asia and global financial markets. Due to continued business growth, they are seeking an experienced VP/SVP to join their Settlement team in Hong Kong.

This is a hands-on role responsible for overseeing daily settlement activities across global markets, acting primarily as a Checker while providing Maker backup support when required. The successful candidate will work closely with Front Office, counterparties, custodians, brokers, and market infrastructures to ensure timely and accurate settlement processing while maintaining a strong control environment.

• Perform and oversee trade settlement and clearing activities across global markets.
• Act as the designated Settlement Checker and provide Backup Maker support to ensure smooth operational coverage.
• Review and authorize settlement instructions, ensuring adherence to internal controls and operational procedures.
• Process and monitor settlements through various clearing and settlement platforms, including:
  • Euroclear
  • CMU
  • Fedwire
  • Other international settlement systems
• Monitor settlement status and proactively manage settlement exceptions, failed trades, and unmatched transactions.
• Liaise with counterparties, custodians, brokers, exchanges, and internal stakeholders to resolve settlement-related issues.
• Follow up on settlement failures and ensure timely resolution in accordance with market requirements.
• Perform cash, securities, and funding reconciliations and investigate discrepancies.
• Prepare operational and management reports for internal stakeholders and regulatory purposes.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, market practices, and internal policies.
• Collaborate closely with Front Office, Finance, Compliance, Risk Management, and Technology teams.
• Participate in operational enhancement initiatives, process improvement projects, and system implementation activities.

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 6 years of relevant experience in trade settlement, clearing, securities operations, custody operations, or capital markets operations.
• Strong working knowledge of settlement platforms including Euroclear, CMU, and Fedwire.
• Solid understanding of securities settlement lifecycle, post-trade processing, and operational controls.
• Experience operating within a Maker-Checker environment.
• Strong understanding of settlement risk management, exception handling, and reconciliation processes.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and relevant operations systems.
