We are partnering with a leading global technology manufacturer to identify an experienced Back-End Cost Controller to support its semiconductor manufacturing operations across Asia.

The Role

This is a highly visible regional role sitting at the intersection of Finance, Operations and Engineering. The successful candidate will provide financial and commercial insight across semiconductor assembly and testing operations, helping manufacturing teams understand cost drivers, improve productivity and identify opportunities for sustainable cost improvement.

The role will support multiple semiconductor product businesses and work across both in-house manufacturing operations and outsourced assembly and test partners.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing Cost Management

• Monitor and evaluate manufacturing costs across back-end semiconductor assembly and testing operations, covering materials, labour, equipment utilisation and factory overheads.
• Analyse actual performance against plans and standards, investigate variances and translate findings into practical recommendations for management.
• Provide greater visibility into cost drivers across internal manufacturing sites and external production partners.

Planning & Financial Analysis

• Contribute to annual budgeting, periodic forecasting and longer-range financial planning for back-end manufacturing activities.
• Partner with manufacturing, engineering and finance stakeholders to ensure operational assumptions are appropriately reflected in financial plans.
• Develop financial scenarios and analysis to support operational and investment decisions.

Management Reporting & Performance Metrics

• Establish and maintain meaningful KPIs, cost reports and dashboards for management.
• Monitor manufacturing efficiency and cost trends, highlighting emerging risks as well as potential savings opportunities.
• Provide clear financial insights to support decision-making across multiple semiconductor business units.

Operational & Cost Improvement

• Work alongside engineering and manufacturing teams on initiatives aimed at improving productivity and reducing production costs.
• Assess the financial benefits of initiatives relating to yield enhancement, process optimisation, production efficiency and capacity expansion.
• Help prioritise improvement projects based on their operational and financial impact.

Inventory & Capital Assets

• Oversee financial aspects of inventory across raw materials, work-in-progress and finished goods.
• Support accurate inventory valuation and controls.
• Ensure manufacturing equipment is appropriately capitalised and depreciated in accordance with relevant accounting requirements.

Governance & Controls

• Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and internal policies.
• Provide cost-accounting and operational finance support during internal and external audits.

Your Profile

As the successful candidate, you will possess the following relevant skills sets and experience:

• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• Approximately 10+ years of relevant experience in manufacturing cost control, cost accounting, FP&A or operations finance.
• Prior experience within semiconductors or electronics manufacturing is strongly preferred.
• Solid understanding of semiconductor back-end operations, particularly assembly, packaging and testing, and the associated manufacturing cost drivers.
• Strong hands-on experience with ERP platforms such as SAP, coupled with advanced Microsoft Excel capabilities.
• Proven ability to analyse complex manufacturing data and turn findings into clear business recommendations.
• Strong business partnering exposure with stakeholders across Finance, Operations, Engineering and Manufacturing in a regional or global environment.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to influence stakeholders across different functions and locations.

Experience or exposure in any of the following would be beneficial:

• Continuous improvement programmes
• Manufacturing productivity and yield optimisation
• Financial evaluation of manufacturing capacity and capital investments
• Professional qualifications such as CPA or CMA, or a relevant postgraduate degree
