SUMMARY:



The Systems Specialist provides technical support across enterprise and Navy communications environments with a strong focus on COMSEC operations and secure information handling.




ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:



• Manages the safeguarding, inventory, and destruction of keying material and maintains accurate documentation to ensure inspection-ready accountability.



• Coordinates with local base communications and security authorities to align procedures, resolve issues, and support installation-level requirements.



• Performs core IT functions such as user account creation, password resets, file permission changes, hardware handling, file transfers, and backup monitoring, while also completing administrative tasks including documentation creation, editing, and record management.



• Additional responsibilities include training junior personnel in COMSEC practices and supporting workstation configuration, patching, and general user assistance.

• Other duties as assigned.




REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:



Education and Experience:



• At least 3 years of system experience.

• Must have a DOD Secret security clearance and have or be able to obtain an SSBI.

• As per Department of Defense (DoD) Directive 8140.01, this position shall require Information Assurance Technicians (IAT) Level 2 certification.



• Demonstrated ability to work independently under general supervision with effective written and verbal communication skills

ADDITIONAL QUALIFYING FACTORS:



Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance. In addition, a satisfactory background screening, negative drug test, positive references and proof of identity and legal authorization to work in the United States and for TTO are required.
