Multiple sources that Alex Ford, head of equity block solutions at Citi in London, has joined BNP Paribas as head of high touch sales trading. BNP, which didn't respond to a request to comment, has allegedly been looking to fill the role for some time.
Ford spent four years at Citi. He previously spent 11 years at Morgan Stanley in London, where he was latterly head of equity block and liquidity solutions.
BNP's equities business has been beset by exits in the past year. Jonathan O'Keefe, the bank's head of sales trading and execution prime brokerage relationships, left in May. Brian Gallagher, the head of European execution and Jason Yates, the head of APAC execution, left in the first quarter. Tiana Parti, a cash equities sales trader, is understood to have resigned and Katrina Pattemore, a senior equities trader, is understood to be on leave.
BNP Paribas didn't respond to a request to comment on Ford's arrival. He's expected to work alongside Ben James, head of electronic execution at the bank.
