Brevan Howard's technology hiring spree came to BlueCrest
Hedge fund Brevan Howard has lost a lot of its senior technology professionals. But it is also hiring and has now recruited a top front office technologist from BlueCrest.

Ben Souter, BlueCrest's former head of front office technology and quant research is understood to be joining Brevan Howard in an unspecified role that is thought to be similar to his previous job.
Brevan Howard declined to comment and Souter didn't respond to a request to comment on his arrival.
Souter spent over thirteen years at BlueCrest after arriving from JPMorgan, where he was head of interest rate derivative pricing and risk technology.
Brevan Howard has lost eight senior technologists, including, most recently Chris Willis, its head of quant analysis.
Many of the departures follow the arrival of Mike Sanders from JPMorgan as head of technology in 2024. Sanders has been hiring beyond Souter. Valdo Durrleman, the former head of desk strats at Eisler joined in January. Tim Mace from Man Group joined as head of AI last November.
There are unconfirmed claims that Brevan Howard is paying handsomely for its senior hires. The fund is also saving money by building a technology hub in India and making small cuts to its technology team in Abu Dhabi.
