Key purpose of the role
As the Principal Cloud Engineer Risk Platform you will provide direction and guidance and also take responsibility for technical solutions and engineering practices for the clearing risk platform.
As part of your role, you will help Mentor and drive the team in the use of engineering best practices to improve the efficiency, stability, availability, and monitoring of the system while ensuring quality of deliverables, in alignment with technical standards.

The Clearing Risk Platform team combines technical expertise, innovative problem-solving to design, deploy and implement effective solutions to support the Clearing Risk businesses within the ASX.

Your Team
The Clearing Risk Platform team combines technical expertise, innovative problem-solving to design, deploy and implement effective solutions to support the Clearing Risk businesses within the ASX.
Your responsibilities
- Design and implementation of a cloud solution within Markets technology
- Work closely with Architecture to ensure Cloud strategy and vision are realised.
- Ensure design and engineering processes are adhering to existing engineering standards, and deliver a reporting model on compliance.
- As part of the Solution Engineering Guild - lead delivery of technical documentation, such as best practices, standards and processes.
- Provide expert services on contemporary engineering practices (micro services, continuous delivery, multi-cloud, data engineering, DevSecOps).
- Be part of a cross-functional team planning, designing, creating, enhancing, and documenting new and existing system features in order to deliver agreed value to stakeholders.
- Collaborate in reviews of work with others as appropriate such that features meet specified functional and non-functional requirements.
- Collaborate with non-technical stakeholders to understand whether solutions meet their needs.
Your experience and qualifications
Must have
- Experience in delivering programs of work in a complex, agile environment
- Have lead end to end cloud implementation on a complex environment
- Demonstrated experience working in a Senior Cloud Engineering role in public, private and hybrid cloud environments.
- A strong understanding of cloud engineering principles underpinned by design and development experience with one or more cloud environments such GCP, AWS and VMware
- Experience with running multi cloud environments and a strong understanding of multitenancy and security implications
- Knowledge and experience with cloud concepts such as Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) , Software as a Service (SaaS)
- Understand enterprise networking and cloud native solutions
- Experience of cloud infrastructure automation
- Experience in Terraform
- Experienced in working with cloud deployment and orchestration technologies at scale with strong knowledge of the fundamentals to include service discovery, deployments, monitoring, scheduling, and load balancing. Knowledge of Containerisation
- Experienced with complex data structures and semi structured data (JSON, XML)
- Experienced with Design Governance, and can take responsibility for the end to end software design process across a large program of work, collaborating with Architecture, Engineering and Suppliers.
- Scripting Skills (Shell, Perl, Python)
Nice to have
- Cloud Engineering, DevOps, or Architecture certifications on AWS or GCP
- Experience with CI/CD tools such as GoCD, GitLab, Cloud Build, or Code Build.
- Experience building scalable systems and workloads on the cloud.
- Experience migrating workloads to the cloud.
- Proficient in Linux, Shell scripting, Gradle, Java 8+, and Spring Boot 2.7+
- Experience in building and working with Docker container-based services or other CRE.
- Understand challenges and trade-offs building, deploying, and running solutions in different environments.
