Provide security advisory, design review and risk management expertise across major technology initiatives.Your new companyJoin a large Australian enterprise with a mature cyber security function supporting a broad range of business and technology initiatives. You'll be part of an established BAU security team, working closely with technology, delivery and business stakeholders to ensure cyber security requirements are understood, embedded and followed through to practical outcomes.This is an initial 6-month contract with strong potential for extension. Brisbane is the preferred location, however candidates based in Melbourne or Sydney will also be considered.
Your new roleAs a Security Advisor, you'll provide practical cyber security guidance across a broad range of concurrent business and technology initiatives. These may include HR systems, mobile applications and other enterprise technology changes where cyber security requirements need to be considered and embedded.This is an embedded BAU position rather than a traditional project security or consulting role. You'll take ownership of security activities from initial engagement through to completion, working closely with stakeholders to understand proposed solutions, identify requirements, review designs and progress agreed security outcomes.You'll be responsible for:

• Providing practical cyber security advice and requirements to business and technology teams
• Managing security activities across multiple concurrent initiatives and priorities
• Taking ownership of security actions from initial engagement through to completion
• Reviewing solution designs and architectures against relevant security policies, standards and requirements
• Working closely with technical teams to understand solutions, address security risks and progress agreed outcomes
• Supporting security risk, control and assurance activities where required
• Building strong working relationships across technology, delivery and business teams
• Providing pragmatic security guidance that supports business outcomes while appropriately managing risk

What you'll need to succeedTo succeed in this role, you'll bring broad cyber security knowledge combined with the ability to work effectively across both technical and non-technical stakeholder groups.Ideally, you'll have:

• Experience in a Security Advisor or similar cyber security advisory role
• Experience working within a BAU or operational enterprise security environment
• Broad understanding of enterprise technologies and cyber security principles
• Experience reviewing technical designs and translating security requirements into practical actions
• The ability to take ownership of security activities and follow them through to completion
• Confidence managing multiple stakeholders, initiatives and competing priorities simultaneously
• Experience working closely with technology, delivery and business teams
• Strong understanding of security controls, risk management and governance principles
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a practical, collaborative approach
• Valid Australian work rights
