About the Client

Our client is a well-capitalized global life insurance group with a dominant market footprint in Hong Kong and expanding business across Asia. The technology organisation balances financial stability and strict regulatory compliance with active platform modernization, moving away from legacy monolithic systems toward modular, cloud-native architectures.

The Role & Landscape

This is a senior architecture leadership mandate focused on two key imperatives: driving the enterprise technology strategy for Hong Kong and owning the technical direction for a strategic Greater China platform.

1. Translate business priorities into actionable multi-year target-state blueprints across core platforms, cloud, data, security, and AI.
2. Lead the architecture for cross-border technology capabilities in Greater China, resolving complex data residency, network security, and local platform integration requirements.
3. Establish clear architecture governance and chair design review boards, balancing speed-to-market against long-term risk and regulatory requirements (HKMA/IA).
4. Partner with engineering leads to rationalize legacy tech, sequence cloud migration roadmaps, and introduce pragmatic AI/data capabilities into daily operations.

What We Are Looking For

1. Experience: 15+ years in technology with significant leadership in Enterprise Architecture or Tech Strategy within regulated financial services (life insurance experience is highly valued).
2. Domain Knowledge: Proven background in core policy administration, digital distribution platforms, and API-driven enterprise integrations.
3. Cross-Border Exposure: Practical experience designing architectures that comply with cross-border data transfers, China cybersecurity laws, data residency, and local tech stacks.
4. Leadership: Ability to manage complex stakeholder environments across local business units, regional corporate tech, and mainland partners without friction.
