Our client, a well-established and highly regarded organisation operating in a specialised industry sector, is seeking an experienced Accountant to join their finance team. Reporting directly to the Financial Controller, the successful candidate will play a key role in the delivery of accurate financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, statutory compliance, and financial analysis. This position offers excellent exposure across all aspects of the finance function and the opportunity to contribute to business performance and strategic decision-making.




Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate month-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.


• Prepare and issue monthly management accounts, including profit margin reporting and variance analysis.


• Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting packages for group reporting requirements.


• Prepare annual budgets and periodic forecasts, monitoring performance against targets.


• Maintain and oversee fixed asset records and asset-related reporting.


• Monitor and analyse overhead expenditure and identify areas for cost control.


• Support the preparation of statutory accounts and year-end audit requirements.


• Assist with the preparation of tax returns and related compliance activities.


• Monitor impairment risks and ensure appropriate financial controls are maintained.


• Develop and enhance business unit reporting and management information.


• Prepare financial evaluations, assessments, and associated analytical reporting.


• Authorise invoices, payments, and electronic banking transactions in line with company procedures and controls.


• Liaise with external auditors and respond to audit queries.


• Supervise and support the Assistant Accountant, providing guidance and development where required.


• Assist the Financial Controller with ad hoc projects, financial analysis, and reporting requirements.

Candidate Profile

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CPA or CIMA).


• Strong financial reporting and management accounting experience.


• Previous experience within a commercial finance environment.


• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.


• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to meet tight deadlines.


• Experience supervising or mentoring junior finance staff.


• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.


• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.


• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
