Position Summary

We are seeking Physical Therapists for a long-term contract providing personal medical services in support of the Department of Defense (DoD) at Yokota and Misawa Airbases in Japan. As part of the 1 Health Solutions team, healthcare workers (HCWs) will support Air Force Medicine operations by delivering medical services to active-duty military personnel, their dependents, eligible DoD civilian employees, retirees, and other authorized beneficiaries designated by the Government.




Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Perform a full range of physical therapist services in accordance with the scope of clinical privileges granted by the MTF.

• Plan and prepare written treatment programs based on an evaluation of the patient.

• Administer manual exercises to improve and maintain function.

• Instruct, motivate, and assist patients in performing various physical activities, such as non-manual exercises, ambulatory functional activities, daily-living activities, and in use of assistive and supportive devices, such as crutches, canes, and prostheses.

• Administer soft tissue mobilization, applying knowledge of mobilization techniques and body physiology.

• Administer traction to relieve pain, using traction equipment.

• Record treatment, response, and progress in patient's chart and/or automated systems.

• Coordinate treatment with physician and other staff members to obtain additional patient information, suggest revisions in treatment program and integrate physical therapy treatment with other aspects of the patient's health care. Contact referring physicians regarding patient care concerns, as required.

• Perform prevention and wellness activities, education, screening, and promote positive health behaviors.




Education & Experience Requirements

• Degree: Doctorates Degree.

• Education: Must be graduates of a physical therapy program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education. Completion of professional coursework in the specialty area such as Educational and Developmental Intervention Services (EDIS).

• Experience: Two years of experience within the last three years as a physical therapist.

• Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a physical therapist.




Working Conditions/Working Environment/Physical Demands

• Services Shall be provided Monday through Friday between the hours of 0600 and 1800. The HCW shall be assigned an 8 shift, (to include an uncompensated .5 hour meal break) In no instance will the HCW be required to provide services in excess of 80 hours per 2-week period.

• Work is primarily performed indoors at a Military Treatment Facility; employee shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time, have the physical ability to perform assigned tasks, able to lift twenty (20) pounds

• Must be a United States citizen, successfully pass an extensive government background investigation, and receive government client approval.
