On behalf of our client, a leading global natural resources group, we are seeking a European Legal Counsel to join their legal team in Baar, Switzerland on a 12-month maternity cover contract.

This is a broad in-house legal role suited to a lawyer who enjoys working across a varied mix of sustainability, HSEC, human rights, regulatory, employment, corporate and commercial legal matters. The successful candidate will work closely with international business teams, providing practical and commercially focused legal advice across a fast-paced global environment.

Key responsibilities will include:

* Advising on legal matters relating to sustainability, HSEC, human rights and responsible sourcing
* Supporting regulatory compliance, risk management and issues management across European operations
* Monitoring relevant European regulatory developments affecting natural resources, energy, mining and industrial sectors
* Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements
* Advising on employment law matters, including contracts, labour relations and employee benefits
* Working with corporate affairs and business teams on external communications, stakeholder engagement and reputational risk

The ideal candidate will have:

* A law degree and bar admission, with an LL.M. or equivalent qualification preferred
* Approximately 3 to 5 years' post-qualification experience gained in-house or in private practice
* Exposure to some or all of the following areas: sustainability, HSEC, human rights, employment law, commercial contracts and regulatory compliance
* Full professional proficiency in German or French, alongside fluent English
* Experience in a regulated or industrial sector such as energy, mining, manufacturing or natural resources would be advantageous
* Strong analytical, drafting, communication and stakeholder management skills
* Eligibility to work in Switzerland, either through a Swiss work permit or CH / EU / EFTA passport
