We are seeking an experienced Base Metals Trader to drive the growth and profitability of our Client's metals trading business. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and managing international procurement and sales activities across the base metals value chain, including but not limited to aluminum, copper, zinc, lead, nickel, and related non-ferrous metal products. This role involves sourcing, trading, market development, supply chain management, and maintaining strong relationships with producers, consumers, and trading partners globally.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and manage procurement and sales channels for base metals across international markets.
• Build and maintain relationships with producers, smelters, refiners, manufacturers, traders, and end-users.
• Identify and execute physical trading opportunities, including import and export transactions.
• Monitor market fundamentals, supply-demand dynamics, pricing trends, and arbitrage opportunities.
• Negotiate commercial terms, contracts, and logistics arrangements with counterparties.
• Manage the full trading cycle from deal origination through execution and delivery.
• Collaborate with logistics, operations, finance, and risk management teams to ensure smooth trade execution.
• Expand the company's presence in existing and new markets through business development initiatives.
• Conduct regular market visits and international travel to strengthen commercial relationships and identify new opportunities.
• Ensure compliance with internal risk controls, trade regulations, and company policies.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of physical commodity trading experience, preferably within base metals or non-ferrous metals.
• Proven experience trading products such as aluminum, copper, zinc, lead, nickel, or related metal products.
• Established network across the upstream and downstream base metals supply chain.
• Strong understanding of international trade flows, contract structures, logistics, and pricing mechanisms.
• Demonstrated ability to originate, negotiate, and execute profitable trading transactions independently.
• Strong commercial acumen, negotiation, and relationship management skills.
• Ability to analyze market trends and identify trading opportunities.
• Fluent English communication skills.
• Additional language capabilities may be advantageous where required for specific markets and business activities.
• Willingness to travel internationally as business needs require.

Preferred Profile

• Existing relationships with smelters, refiners, mines, processors, manufacturers, trading houses, or industrial consumers.
• Strong understanding of LME-related pricing mechanisms and risk management practices.
• Proven track record of generating and growing profitable trading portfolios.
