Job Responsibilities
Job summary
The Corporate Banking Relationship Manager is a client-facing role responsible for managing a portfolio of Japanese corporate clients. The incumbent will originate new business, cross-sell the bank's full suite of products and serve as the primary point of contact for all banking related needs. The ideal candidate will bring strong knowledge of corporate finance, risk management, international banking regulations and relationship management in a cross-cultural environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify target customers based on defined criteria and build the annual deal pipeline.
- Scout the market to identify potential leads and target customers through management referrals, network, contacts and cold calls.
- Coordinate closely with other Compliance, Legal and CRM teams to review credit applications and support approval processes.
- Initiate cross-border transaction processes and collaborate with teams in other regions as required.
- Coordinate with overseas branches to support the booking of transactions originating from overseas subsidiaries.
- Maintain accurate records on an ongoing basis to ensure compliance to policies and regulatory requirements, including RBI guidelines.
- Prepare periodic and ad hoc reports, including deal pipeline lists, funding reports to the Singapore branch, excess INR reporting, and customer classification reports.
- Strengthen working relationships with branches and Head Office teams in Japan to ensure smooth business execution.
- Build and manage relationships with regulatory bodies, law firms and other key stakeholders to support effective transaction execution.
- Drive transaction banking opportunities to expand the client relationship and increase sources of income for the bank.
- Prepare documentation required for sanctioning and disbursing credit facilities and manage post-sanction follow up activities to ensure timely execution.
Job Requirements
- An MBA, CA, or other advanced degree is preferred.
- The role requires 6-8 years of relevant experience.
- In-depth knowledge of local regulations, including RBI and the Foreign Exchange Dealers Association of India, is essential.
- Client-centric approach, along with excellent communication skills, is required to engage effectively with Japanese corporate customers and internal stakeholders.
- Well-developed analytical skills are needed to evaluate business opportunities, financial data, and credit proposals.
- Results-driven mindset is essential to support business growth and achieve targets.
- Sound business orientation is required to identify opportunities that drive revenue and client expansion.
- Good knowledge of banking products and their application in corporate banking is important.
- Well-honed financial analysis and credit assessment skills are necessary to support informed lending decisions.
- Excellent negotiation skills are required to manage discussions and support successful deal closure.
