The Functional Support Specialist serves as a key liaison between the Tactical System Engineering (TSE) Strategic Capability Unit (SCU) and Talent Acquisition to ensure a seamless, high-quality experience for technical talent throughout the hiring, onboarding, and early engagement lifecycle. This role strengthens hiring outcomes by providing strategic insights, logistical coordination, workforce planning support, and employee experience integration that complement TA's recruiting activities.

TSE is composed of highly skilled engineers, technicians, and technical support staff who deliver full-spectrum capabilities across radio-frequency (RF) and electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) technologies. TSE supports the complete product lifecycle - from initial concept development and detailed engineering design through integration, environmental testing, and full qualification of advanced tactical systems. The team's multidisciplinary expertise enables high-performance solutions that meet rigorous mission requirements and ensure reliability in operational environments.

The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers' missions. What You'll Do:

• Coordinate hiring and interview logistics with Talent Acquisition to ensure efficient scheduling, communication, and documentation.
• Maintain awareness of engineering program needs, staffing priorities, workforce management tools, and engineering operational requirements.
• Monitor engineering talent market trends and provide competitive insights to Talent Acquisition and leadership for strategic awareness.
• Represent the organization at targeted industry events to support employer brand presence and technical community engagement; this role does not perform candidate screening or recruiting.
• Support onboarding and cultural integration through structured 7/30/60/90-day check-ins, tailored introductions, resource guidance, and ongoing engagement.
• Maintain and continually improve onboarding resources, guides, FAQs, process documentation, and orientation materials for new employees.
• Provide weekly onboarding orientation sessions to ensure new hires understand internal systems, tools, community resources, and organizational processes.
• Build and maintain hiring hospitality practices that foster a welcoming, professional, and supportive environment for highly technical employees.
• Maintain working knowledge of internal systems used for staffing and workforce coordination, such as JIRA, Confluence, workforce staffing tools, and reporting systems.
• Provide early visibility into staffing bottlenecks, onboarding friction points, and process inefficiencies, focusing on procedural improvements rather than personnel evaluation.
• Support alumni relationship tracking and light-touch engagement strategies to inform long-term talent planning and maintain positive relationships with former employees.
• Participate in special projects and process improvement initiatives impacting staffing efficiency, onboarding quality, or employee experience.
• Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
• Perform other duties as necessary.

On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.

Working Conditions:

• Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.

Required Skills and Education

• Bachelor's degree in a related field plus 4 or more years related experience.
• Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
• Experience in executive administration, hospitality, technical coordination, or other people-focused support roles.
• Excellent communication skills, discretion, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and maintain follow-through in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Teams, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint Online, and Outlook.
