Senior Software Engineer - Contract

£550-£615 per day | Inside IR35

6-month contract | Remote | Bristol/London travel

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Software Engineer to join a large-scale digital transformation programme on an initial 6-month contract.

Working as part of an agile engineering squad, you will be responsible for designing, developing and delivering high-quality, scalable and secure software solutions within a modern cloud environment.

The Role

You will work closely with architects, engineers and product teams to develop solutions that align with business requirements, enterprise architecture standards and modern engineering practices.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Designing, developing, testing and maintaining software solutions using Python and AWS.
• Supporting discovery, technical analysis and backlog refinement.
• Collaborating with architects, engineers and product teams to shape technical solutions.
• Participating in peer code reviews and maintaining high engineering standards.
• Contributing to CI/CD and modern software delivery practices.
• Troubleshooting application issues and supporting incident response and root-cause analysis.
• Supporting Programme Increment planning, estimation and dependency management.
• Continuously improving engineering processes, tooling and development practices.
• Supporting the integration of cloud and platform services.

About You

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with:

• Strong commercial experience developing software with Python.
• Strong experience working with AWS and cloud-based technologies.
• Experience working within Agile engineering environments.
• Good understanding of CI/CD, testing and software engineering best practices.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience working alongside architects, product teams and other engineering disciplines.

Experience with Amazon Connect would be beneficial but is not essential.

Contract Details

Rate: £550-£615 per day

IR35: Inside IR35

Duration: 6 months

Start date: 5 October, with some flexibility

Location: Remote, with approximately one day per month in Bristol and one day per month in London for project/team meetings.
