Department: Legal

Location: Bolton

Reporting To: Ian Toft

Description

Keoghs LLP is one of the UK's leading insurance law firms and is widely recognised as one of the most progressive and dynamic organisations in the sector. We currently have a number of exciting opportunities to join our Property Risks & Coverage Large & Complex Loss team, with roles available in both our Bolton and Manchester offices. Flexible working arrangements are available for the right candidates.

Working as part of a collaborative and highly regarded team, you will assist on a broad range of property damage claims arising from major incidents including fires, floods, product liability matters and other complex losses. You'll support experienced lawyers handling high-value and technically challenging household and commercial property damage disputes for a portfolio of leading insurer clients.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your expertise within a specialist team that acts for some of the firm's most important insurance clients and is involved in complex, high-profile property damage litigation.

Key Responsibilities

The team has a particular focus on complex matters involving disputed policy coverage and suspected fraud. You will support the delivery of strategic advice to a range of leading insurer clients on policy interpretation, evidential issues and prospects of success arising from high-value claims involving fires, floods and other significant losses.

This is a supporting role and does not involve managing your own caseload. Instead, you will work closely with lawyers across the wider team, assisting on a variety of complex matters and contributing to the effective progression of cases.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Obtaining and chasing key documentation from clients, experts and third parties

  • Collating and organising evidence to support case strategy and decision-making

  • Preparing court, Counsel and client bundles

  • Managing diaries, including court deadlines, orders and other critical dates

  • Arranging conferences, meetings and hearings

  • Instructing and coordinating Counsel, experts and other external parties

  • Undertaking legal research and preparing factual chronologies

  • Supporting compliance with SRA Standards and Regulations

  • Assisting with any other duties required to support the wider team

This is an excellent opportunity to gain exposure to complex coverage and fraud disputes while working alongside experienced lawyers, on high-value and technically challenging claims.

Working Hours:

35 hours per week Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm, with 1 unpaid hour for lunch. The primary locations for this role are Bolton or Manchester.
