Octavius Finance, a specialist search firm focused on hedge funds, portfolio management and public markets investing, is currently working on behalf of a highly regarded boutique single-manager hedge fund to appoint a Long/Short Equity Analyst or Sub PMto join its investment team in Dubai.

Managing several billion dollars in assets, the fund has established an outstanding long-term investment track record through a high-conviction, fundamentally driven investment process.

This is an exceptional opportunity to work directly alongside the Portfolio Manager, taking ownership of coverage across the global semiconductor sector. The successful individual will become an integral part of the investment process, contributing to idea generation, fundamental research, portfolio construction and risk management across a concentrated global long/short equity portfolio.

Importantly, this is a PM-track opportunity, offering the successful candidate a genuine pathway to assuming greater investment responsibility over time, with the potential to progress into a Portfolio Manager role and ultimately manage capital.

Key Responsibilities

1. Conduct deep fundamental research across the global semiconductor universe, including chip designers, foundries, equipment manufacturers and the wider semiconductor supply chain.
2. Generate high-conviction long and short investment ideas supported by detailed financial analysis and proprietary research.
3. Build and maintain detailed financial models and valuation frameworks.
4. Monitor industry developments, technology roadmaps, competitive dynamics and supply chain trends.
5. Present investment recommendations directly to the Portfolio Manager.
6. Support portfolio construction, position sizing and ongoing portfolio management.
7. Monitor portfolio holdings, investment theses and risk exposures.
8. Meet company management teams, industry experts and channel contacts to develop differentiated insights.

Requirements

1. ~ 3 – 8 Years’ experience in equity research, ideally on the buy-side with equity long/short experience.
2. Sell side candidates with substantive research experience in the semiconductor sector will also be considered.

Experience should include:

1. Coverage of global semiconductor companies or the broader technology hardware sector.
2. Fundamental equity research and financial modelling.
3. Generation of actionable investment ideas.
4. Strong accounting, valuation and analytical skills.
5. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
6. A genuine passion for investing and public markets.

Candidates may currently be working within a hedge fund, long-only asset manager, or investment bank, provided they have meaningful experience covering semiconductor equities.
