Iris Software/SSA Infosystems Inc is looking to hire a Senior Capital Markets SME, for our world-leading financial services/banking clients, based out of Edison, NJ .

Role: Capital Markets SME

Location: Iris Software Inc, Edison, NJ

Job Type: Full Time Role

About the role

This role is the domain and solutioning lead for Capital Markets and for Wealth, Asset Management & Securities Services within the Iris Financial Services practice. Clients include bank-owned sell-side dealers and fixed income electronic trading venues; brokerage, wealth and asset management firms; and global custodians and asset servicers. The role owns how Iris shapes and positions technology work across the securities value chain, from trade execution through advice and portfolio management to settlement, safekeeping and asset servicing.

The person is techno-functional: equally credible with a head of fixed income e-trading, a wealth platform owner and a custody operations executive, and able to take a business problem through to target architecture and a delivery approach. The role is primarily measured on solution quality, client advisory impact and pursuit influence, not on direct delivery management or account quota.

Required experience

  1. 15+ years in capital markets, wealth/asset management or securities services technology, with deep experience in at least two of the three areas and working knowledge of the third.
  2. A techno-functional career: hands-on roles such as business analyst, product owner, solution architect or domain consultant, progressing to leading solutions and client conversations.
  3. Capital markets: working knowledge of sell-side and electronic trading venue functions, including spread-based and tiered pricing, RFQ and inquiry workflows, order routing, trade capture and allocations, STP, matching, middle-office tickets and blotters, real-time and EOD risk and P&L, and reference data.
  4. Brokerage, wealth and asset management: experience with advisor and client portals, advisor trading and alerts, portfolio management and rebalancing, performance and holdings reporting, money movement (ACH, wires, check processing), and account opening and authorization.
  5. Custody and securities services: exposure to settlement and safekeeping, corporate actions and income, cash and position reconciliation, fund accounting and NAV, transfer agency, middle-office outsourcing (IBOR/ABOR), and securities lending and collateral, gained at a custodian or global bank or by delivering to one.
  6. Regulatory fluency across the chain: CFTC, SEC and FINRA trade and transaction reporting; MiFID II/MiFIR transparency, EMIR and SFTR; T+1 settlement; and custody controls such as asset segregation.
  7. Track record of shaping and winning technology services deals with large North American financial institutions, including written proposals and orals.
  8. Experience working through large-institution vendor management, procurement and third-party risk processes.
  9. Ability to explain a trade lifecycle or a corporate action event end to end, and map it to the systems, data and controls that support it.

Key responsibilities

Solutioning and pursuits

  1. Lead the domain and solution narrative for proposals, RFPs and proactive pitches across Capital Markets, Wealth/Asset Management and Securities Services.
  2. Translate client business problems into target-state capability maps, process flows and solution architectures, with a credible delivery approach, phasing and estimates.
  3. Shape outcome-based and managed-service constructs, not only staff augmentation.
  4. Build reusable solution assets: reference architectures, process models, accelerators and case studies drawn from Iris delivery.

Client advisory

  1. Act as the domain counterpart to business and technology leaders at client firms, from desk heads and platform owners to operations and CIO organizations.
  2. Run discovery workshops and current-state assessments on trading, post-trade, wealth platform and asset servicing landscapes.
  3. Bring a point of view on industry shifts: T+1 and shorter settlement cycles, front-to-back platform consolidation, cloud and data platform modernization, tokenization and digital custody, and applied and agentic AI in operations.

Working within large-institution vendor models

  1. Navigate how large banks and custodians engage technology service providers: preferred-supplier and tiered vendor programs, third-party risk, cybersecurity and resilience reviews, and procurement-led sourcing events.
  2. Position Iris alongside in-house global technology centres, platform vendors and other systems integrators, finding where Iris adds distinct value.
  3. Structure engagements that fit client governance, such as SOW-based pods, managed services and capability centres.

Delivery assurance

  1. Provide domain oversight on key programs: review requirements, designs and test strategies for functional correctness.
  2. Step in on complex domain issues, escalations and change requests; ensure solutions meet regulatory and operational control needs.

Practice building

  1. Grow domain depth across Iris: mentor business analysts, product owners and architects; define a domain competency framework and training.
  2. Partner with account leaders on account plans, white-space mapping and mining of existing relationships.
  3. Represent Iris externally through client roundtables, industry forums and published points of view.

Preferred qualifications

  1. Prior experience at a sell-side dealer, an electronic trading venue, a wealth or asset manager, or a global custodian, in addition to services-side experience.
  2. Exposure to a custodian's front-to-back servicing platform or an asset manager's migration onto one.
  3. Working knowledge of tokenized assets, digital custody and wallet models, and how they integrate with traditional settlement and accounting.
  4. Exposure to Canadian and US market structure and regulators (CIRO, OSC, SEC, FINRA, CFTC).
  5. Industry credentials such as CFA, CSC/CIM, FRM; an MBA or equivalent is a plus, not a requirement.
