DWS is seeking a Senior BI Engineer to join a high-profile data and analytics transformation program, focused on migrating and modernising legacy SAS analytics and reporting into cloud-ready BI platforms. This role will support the transition into Tableau Cloud, Power BI and Alteryx , while ensuring business continuity and improved self-service capability.

Salary : up to $750/day [ACN contractor] OR up to $180K (inc super) [max term]

The role will involve:

• Identifying, assessing and rationalising the legacy reporting situation, including identifying redundant, duplicate and end-of-life reports
• Rebuilding old data-prep workflows in Alteryx, SQL, Python, and Snowflake
• Redesigning and developing reports and dashboards in Tableau Cloud and Power BI, including semantic/data-source layers, row-level security and performance optimisation
• Migrating existing Tableau server content to Tableau Cloud where applicable, including workbooks, data sources and permissions
• Developing ETL logic and curated datasets to feed BI consumption layers
• Performing side-by-side validation of migrated reports against existing outputs and managing UAT with business users
• Establishing BI development standards, reusable templates and documentation; coaching business users in self-service adoption

Essential skills & experience:

• Expert level, hands-on experience with Tableau, including Tableau Cloud, dashboard design, published data sources, extracts vs live connections and performance tuning
• Very strong Alteryx Designer skills, including workflow development, macros and In-DB tools
• Advanced Power BI capability, including data modelling, star schema, DAX and Power Query
• Expert SQL skills, along with Snowflake and Python skills for data preparation and automation
• ETL development experience and understanding of dimensional modelling for BI consumption
• A track record of modernising legacy analytics/reporting into cloud BI platforms with business validation and UAT

Preferred additional skills (not mandatory):

• Experience with SAS data system
• Tableau Server to Tableau Cloud migration tooling, including Content Migration Tool, tabcmd and REST API
• Report rationalisation and estate assessment methodologies
• Git-based version control for BI assets, reporting deployment pipelines, data visualisation best practice, UX design and accessibility standards
• Relevant certifications including Tableau Certified Professional/Architect, Alteryx Core/Advanced, and PL-300 Power BI
