Description & Requirements

Job Objective:

Assist LOB Head to monitor & supervise Liability team through effective planning, managing to achieve underwriting budget and underwriting profit in accordance with the company/regulatory guidelines or benchmark.

Job Responsibilities:

• Establish underwriting policies for commercial lines Liability products to achieve growth and profit objectives.
• Review and evaluate Liability products that exceed the underwriter's authority and provide direction to the underwriters
• Provide underwriting input in arranging an adequate reinsurance treaty arrangement to protect the policy holders and shareholder's interest.
• Supervise and monitor the operations of insurance activities of the company relating to Liability classes.
• Assist LOB head to monitor the performance of Distribution's underwriting activities and prepare relevant underwriting reports for Management.
• Ensure all Policy Wordings, Proposal Forms and Underwriting Guidelines are reviewed regularly and updated in a timely manner and to remain current and relevant.
• Develop and implement training programs jointly with HRD for Distribution Staff including BDEs and
• Underwriters to upgrade their technical competency.
• Review and redesign or improve current work processes for better delivery of tasks/job output.
• Provide technical support for Distributions
• Ensure effective and efficient administration of day-to-day business operations in line with SOP across all support functions.
• Ensure consistency with enterprise risk management guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with regulations and laws.
• Ensure good corporate governance is practiced and are being exercised by the department.
• Assist to build an organization that attracts and retains talents to ensure critical business processes are highly efficient and effective.
• Assemble and empower a high performing team. Ensure effective succession plan in place for key positions.
