Role Description:

Job Title: PST Specialist, Claims

Reports To: PST Claims Manager

Role/ Segment: Individual Contributor

Role Responsibilities:

• Determining policy coverage, escalating technical issues as needed and generally adhering to the applicable PST claim handling requirements. This will include establishing and setting reserves for indemnity (and in some instances, expense claims) reviewing reserves on an appropriate regular basis to ensure adequacy and ensuring diary and compliance requirements are up to date at all times.
• Authorising payments in accordance with internal processes and within scope of authority, settling claims as expeditiously and economically as possible.
• Ensuring that internal and external stakeholders, co-insurers/reinsurers and Liberty clients consistently receive a high level of claims service and proactive communication that differentiates Liberty from its competitors.
• Actively pursuing all avenues of recovery including but not limited to timely subrogation activities.
• Delegating administrative/ processing tasks to the broader PST where appropriate.
• Providing information to management as to any portfolio trends, process improvement or service enhancement opportunities.
• Raising the Liberty profile and assisting in new business opportunities and account retention through effective and proactive claim handling.
• Consistently implementing, maintaining and monitoring departmental standards and procedures.
• Participating in claims audits, reviews and other projects/initiatives as and when required.
• Demonstrating behaviour at all times in line with the Liberty core values and the Claims value proposition.
• Ensuring compliance with all legal, statutory and corporate affairs requirements on a timely basis.
• Taking responsibility and showing initiative in the development of technical and soft skills.
• Performing other related duties as assigned from time to time.

Experience & Skills:

• Previous claims management and/or broader insurance experience ideal but not essential.
• Strong working knowledge of PC based systems and applications such as Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and database systems for managing contacts, schedules and calendars is required.
• Completion of applicable secondary education requirements.
• Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline would be desirable.
• Good oral and written communication skills in English
